I was part of a small team (before I retired ) and can totally relate to how hard it is to cover for co-workers and still do your own workload. From my perspective, you do a great job juggling all that goes on in your life!

I've not forgotten you even though I, too, have not been able to spend the time on this site for awhile now. I do read the posts as I get the emails. I'm glad Molly is doing pretty ok.

I once dropped Palmer off for a grooming and they took him in the back while I was still there and started on him right away. Nail clipping was first. I heard some yelps from the back and looked at the gal who was still in front. I forget what excuse she gave me, but I was VERY unhappy. All 3 of our dogs have had black nails and it's almost impossible to know where the quick begins......consequently I leave it to the groomers.

Oh yea, my groomer is the only one I usually have do molly's nails, which is why I was surprised to find they'd been cut already.

I have to say, molly is a little bundle of energy in the evenings lately. Playing with her ball, running around, wants to sit outside with me and bark at dogs in the neighborhood who walk by. Just enjoying life. I love to see her like this. Hope it continues for a very long time.

I haven't been back over to the IMS, we are actually on a bit of a break from testing in that I don't have to go back till September, but no fear, I will find them. I have an idea it might have been Chris, but I think he would have said something to me, we'll see. He is the lab tech, but could have been anyone. So I'll have a word with him and the IMS and say, yo, knock off the grooming with the little miss. Gawd, wonder if it was because it was before she went to the groomer and they thought she looked a mess!!!!!!!! (she did, she always does when she reaches that stage of either groom her or loose her under all the hair)

Quick update. Molly has diarrhea again. I just can't figure out what the cause is. I'll start her on some pumpkin tomorrow. The last place I checked didn't have the plain pumpkin only the can lpie filling which won't work.

Kitana had her first normal poo in almost 3 weeks today after finally giving her pumpkin! I had tried EVERYthing including syringe-ing the bland diet in her since she wouldn't touch it herself, and I've been using slippery elm too. I gave her 1 tbs in the morning and one in the evening with her food (she's 40-ish lbs) She went from watery poo to totally normal within 2 days. I hope it works for Molly too!

Hi Sharlene,

So sorry to hear that Molly has diarrhea again.

I have a trick to keep the pumpkin purée from going bad, since you use so little of it. It's always ready when you need it, but you don't end up having to throw any away.

I open both ends of a can and put the pumpkin into a Ziploc quart plastic bag. A heavier variety is best. Make sure you get a name brand that zips tightly and stays closed. I use two cans at a time because I use it in my breakfast shakes also. For Molly, you would would want to fix one can at a time.

After getting the pumpkin in the bag, squeeze it all the way down and squeeze as much air out as possible, then zip it shut.

Get a flat pan, such as the cookie sheet and put wax paper on it.

Cut a very small hole on one bottom corner of the Ziploc bag.
You are going to use it like a pastry bag and squeeze out very small portions of about 1 teaspoon or so.

It is OK if they touch each other on the cookie sheet because they break apart easily once frozen. Stick them in the freezer overnight.

Take them out the next morning and break them up. You can then put them in another ziploc in the freezer. They are now ready when you need them. Take out only the portion you need and defrost it.

Easy, simple solution. Always ready....

Poor Molly! Another suggestion re pumpkin--start with just a little bit and gradually increase until you see firmer stools. Abbie, at 24 lbs., now gets a little over 2 teaspoons, spread out over the day in each of her three meals.

Are you still giving Molly metronidazole? I tried to go from once a day to once every other day but loose stools returned.

Curious--are you giving Molly pepcid before her Vetoryl meal? If not, that might help quiet things down.
