    Default Bag Balm

Have any of you used Bag Balm for your dog's dry flaky skin? It is non-toxic if licked off, according to various vet websites. It is supposedly used for a cracked paw pads and skin irritations and abrasions.

I have never used Bag Balm but from doing a quick search on the forum I found a few posts from members that have used it on their dog's paws with success...don't know if that helps or not

Kathy -- I have used Bag Balm on Abbie's dry paw pads. One thing I found was that a itty bit goes a long way. You probably saw this website in your research which does mention using it on dry skin:

    Great link Judy. Thank you!!!

Rosie has had dry flaky skin. It looks like dandruff on a black dog. She ends up with a few small pink (inflamed) spots now and then. I have been washing them and putting on a little bacitracin, for a day or two. They always clear up. Bag Balm might work just as well and it's non-toxic if licked. I have to be careful where I put on bacitracin. As I was sorting through a cabinet, I found three cans of Bag Balm. Probably enough for Rosie's entire life. I use it on my own heels. It works well for that.

    Thanks again.

hmm, don't think molly needs it, but I think I'll pick up some to use on my heels! Gosh they get dry in the summer. Probably because I can't stand to have Shoes on or socks in the summers and just want to run around barefoot like a child.

Bag balm update.... Rosie's dry flakes and inflamed spots have totally cleared since applying Bag Balm. Only a very small amount is needed. I check her skin for new spots twice daily. She has been spot free for several days now. She doesn't lick it off, which is a huge plus and her scratching has stopped.

Good news! Glad it worked. I used to use it myself for eczema and found it worked wonders....
