I wish I could help but I am not familiar enough with diabetes to be comfortable in commenting. I do know it is important that they eat in order to get the shot. Since he is not feeling well that may be more difficult than normal. I am going to give you a link to our sister site, K9Diabetes and want you to go talk to them.
