    Re: Corona Virus Pandemic Preparedness

Before the pandemic hit, I started growing out a pony tail with the intention to get it long enough to donate to use for wigs. They tell me gray hair in in demand. :) That requires at least 7" of...

    Re: Cushings and Hypothyroidism

    Hi Tracy,

    Welcome to you and Cowboy!

Yes, Cushing's can cause a condition called Euthyroid Sick Syndrome which usually clears up once the cortisol is in a more normal range. If the pup is...
  8. Re: Help! Newly diagnosed 15 yr old on Vetoryl and doing poorly

Hi and welcome to the two of you!

I am glad Ellie is feeling better but REALLY wish her vet had done an ACTH as is directed by the drug manufacturer. That is the only way to know if the drug was...

  10. Re: I知 new! 6yr old Rottie/Catahoula mix recently diagnosed and having quite the tim

I have merged your thread about the Rimadyl into Eli's original thread. We like to keep all posts about each dog in one thread. That way it is easier to keep up with the history plus this thread...
  11. Re: Rimadyl and Cushings Thoughts

Personally I wouldn't use Rimadyl even in a dog without Cushing's because of how hard it is on the liver and digestive system. Look into Gabapentin and an newer med called Galliprant.
  12. Re: Cushings/Diabetes BUN & Creatinine Elevated

Good to hear from you again but sorry to hear Yukon has pancreatitis. I hope he is soon well and back on his feet. As for Cushing's causing Addison's, I've never heard nor read of any such...

Hi and welcome to you and Patches from me too!

    Hi Julie,

Good to hear from you and Jackson again!

My Squirt developed dementia in her latter years and it was heartbreaking to watch. The worst was when late afternoon and evening came. She...

    Re: Cost of treatment

If Rosie were mine, based on those ACTH results I would give a her break from the Vetoryl then restart on the lower dose. Sometimes even tho the numbers aren't in the actual danger zone according to...

  18. Re: Please help-dog stopped breathing and went limp last Saturday-thought was dead.

    Hi,

Good to hear from you again!

If I were in your shoes I would forget about Cushing's for now and concentrate on her heart and lungs. My last dog that was diagnosed with Cushing's was...

    Re: Cost of treatment

What you are describing could easily mean the dose needs to be adjusted again so don't think too hard about "the end" until she sees the vet and has the cortisol checked.

As for when it is time, I...
  20. Re: Lena, Teacup Poodle w/ adrenal tumor - Lena is now an angel

I am so sorry about your mom, Joan. Even when a loved one is so ill it is still hard to let them go. My dad had suffered with one thing after another for years and I knew he was so tired but when...
  21. Re: I知 new! 6yr old Rottie/Catahoula mix recently diagnosed and having quite the tim

When you see the same signs you noticed before starting treatment that is a good indication the cortisol is rising again. Signs like excess drinking, ravenous appetite, excess urination, heavy...
  22. Re: Please help-dog stopped breathing and went limp last Saturday-thought was dead.

To post test results simply post the abnormal values on the test, sometimes called a super chem, that shows things like BUN, CHOL, ALP, T4, etc. Be sure to include normal ranges and the little...
  23. Re: Any experience with Cushings and thyroid problems?

Hi and welcome to you and your baby!

Low thyroid is common with Cushing's. But it is rarely true hypothyroidism but rather a condition called Sick Euthroyid Syndrome that is caused by the...
  24. Re: Please help-dog stopped breathing and went limp last Saturday-thought was dead.

Hi and welcome to you and Widget!

I agree with Joan...do not give any more of the Vetoryl for now. The loose stool and lethargy are both signs that the cortisol has gone too low which is a...

Re: Skylar - loving ten year old rescue

Oh ~~whew~~ so glad for the clarification. I feel better about that now.

It is during the first 30 days of treatment that you don't want to increase the drug because the cortisol can continue to...
