  1. Re: Macy, my 7 y/o Newf - Macroadenoma (Macy has passed)

    This is my final post to the K9 Cushings forum. AS much as I want to support other pet owners in their struggle with macros returning to the forum is an emotional struggle for me. I need to give more...
  2. Re: New Member with 3 years of Cushings "cured" (Update: Macroadenoma)

    Robin,

    This is a tough decision for you. Nobody can tell you what to do. This must all nearly take your breath away but try to relax and enjoy your love for Jackson. No matter what your decision...
  3. Re: New Member with 3 years of Cushings "cured" (Update: Macroadenoma)

    They can have radiation after surgery but they cannot have surgery after radiation. You say Tekno can't have radiation again. Too much debris left?? That's why you can't do surgery after radiation....
  4. Re: New Member with 3 years of Cushings "cured" (Update: Macroadenoma)

    Robin,

    It sounds as though Dr. Bruyette has a lot of experience with these surgeries by now so you're in good hands. I was also told that the brain would drop back down but I question what happens...
  5. Re: New Member with 3 years of Cushings "cured" (Update: Macroadenoma)

    I didn't intend for her to switch to the other thread, just wanted to make sure a summary goes to the macro thread. It's hard to remember all of the symptoms and little things we go thru later on so...
  6. Re: New Member with 3 years of Cushings "cured" (Update: Macroadenoma)

    I just found your posts and would love to share info. You're doing surgery?? My Newf Macy had a macro surgically removed. Please feel free to share any info with Dr Bruyette. Her tumor was 1.8 x 2.0...

    [QUOTE=SasAndYunah;62653]Dear Cindy,

    if you like Josh (Groban, I suppose) then you should love "Il Volo" as well, the guys in Yunah's video :) They are three young Italian boys, teens...
  8. Re: Macy, my 7 y/o Newf - Macroadenoma (Macy has passed)

    The words I posted are from the song "Moonlight Lady" as sung by Julio Iglasias. Macy was a K9 freestyle dance Champion. The first Newf to achieve that level. She was really wonderful too. She was...
  9. Re: Macy, my 7 y/o Newf - Macroadenoma (Macy has passed)

    I'm really missing Macy these days. Just wanted to post this.

    Every night is so empty without you;
    I’m so lonely since you went away.
    If by chance we could dance to the music
    Let it...

    Cindy,

    If Penny does indeed have a macroadenoma remember the pituitary is just at the base of the brain and it probably causes pain. Macy's neurologist said that at the very least she had a...

    Hi. I'm so sorry to hear Penny is so sick. It sounds as though she's really dealing with a lot. The symptoms you mention don't match what I saw in Macy but a pituitary macroadenoma does put pressure...

    Once a week for 5 weeks isn't too bad but I assume it's because his tumor was a reasonable size. They gave Macy pred too but for some reason they only gave her a low dose. I don't know why. Will have...

    Well that's good news! While it was a macroadenoma it wasn't huge! :))

    I don't have any knowledge of how much radiation can shrink a tumor but they said I'd get another year with Macy but her...

    Kim,

    I just reread this and wanted to respond. I got enormously frustrated with going from vet to vet to try to get a diagnosis for Macy. What I ended up thinking was that if the records had been...

    Wow! Congrats on the 9 months! If you did radiation you must know how big the tumor was. The vets do even if you don't. Would you let us know? Just for reference sake so folks know how big it was...

    Don't second guess yourself. Once we believe something is wrong we can only go forward from there. We have to rely on the vets to add up the symptoms and figure out what they mean. Cindy it sounds...

    Hi Marianne.

    Thanks for posting. It sounds like you guys really went thru a lot before the final decision to release Barkis from his pain. How I wish none of them ever had to experience that.

    Given the numbers of vets who saw Macy it amazes me that they never connected the dots. She had a long list of unexplained symptoms but nobody else ever looked at...

    It might help to find a neurologist. The folks here suggested I find one and I managed to get an appointment with Dr. Jay McDonnell. It turned out to be very helpful. Especially since you're seeing...

    My most important point here is that the longer you wait to diagnose a macroadenoma, the less likely you are to be to be able to treat it. My goal here is to encourage you to get a full diagnosis...
