We Honor Mother's Day
For all our moms, we honor and celebrate this special day, regardless of whether our children are physically alongside us or whether they are safely tucked inside our hearts. There may be tears today, alongside smiles. There may be aching alongside comfort. But forever and always, we are moms. And forever and always, our babies remain cherished.
With much love, to and from our entire k9C family ~

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Thank you Marianne. It was a beautiful day in Alabama. Just as beautiful as it was, it was a sad one too, for me. It was nine months ago that I lost my precious Tia, the day my world was torn apart. I've learned to live without her and Miss Tippi, but not a day goes by that I think of them and cry, not one day.
I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
I wanted to "bump up" this thread that was first posted a couple of years ago. I know there have been some very sad recent losses among our family -- losses that may make this Mother's Day especially bittersweet for some of our moms. And even for losses from many years past, there is still a special ache that resurfaces annually on this special day. A mother never forgets her children. Never.
So in the midst of celebrating our roles as moms, I want y'all to know there is a thread here where we can honor and remember, and yes shed a tear for, our kids who now revisit us in spirit alone. But what precious spirits they forever remain. Forever our children, forever in our hearts.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Yes, such a hard, sad day for so many reasons.:o We remain united through it all.
So..... Happy Mother's Day Moms. Today is your day to skip down memory lane and visit those cherished memories that have been buried deep in your hearts.
Frankly, I'm doing NOTHING today. No weekend chores. Maybe I will take a much needed nap.;):p

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Wanted to bump this thread back up again, partly and selfishly just for myself. Next month will mark the first anniversary of my sweet Peg's passing, and I remember so clearly what a lovely and special Mother's Day weekend we had spent beforehand. Just like this year, we were lucky enough to have my mom here with us, joining hubby, Luna and me. Peg had an especially lovely time, surrounded by all her adoring family. But after that weekend had passed, her downward slide accelerated.
So today dawns as a bittersweet morning for me. I am so grateful for what and "who" surrounds me. But in the corner of my mind and heart, I am seeing my shiny black dog and wishing so much that I could truly set my eyes on her once again.
Thanks to all my furkids who have made me such a proud mom. I love you all -- Luna beside me, and Barkis and Peg at Rainbow Bridge. I will always love you all.
Your Mom

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
To all the moms, whether you have/had human or furkids, we honor you on this day and every day. You go above and beyond to care for your loved ones in a way that mom's naturally do. :p
So, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ONE AND ALL!!:):)

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
I understand completely. Daniel always gave me a card signed by him and Molly muffin. She was our little girl and I miss her something awful.
Mothers Days aren't the same without her.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
My second Mother's Day without my precious Lena...still so hard to believe.
Happy Mother's Day to all of us...from our babies in Heaven to all the ones still with us, who show us unconditional love everyday.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
My first Mother's Day without my boy, my fourth without my Mom. She was in a wheelchair near the end, and Whiskey would always position himself under the wheelchair with his head between her feet to catch all of her crumbs (she had Parkinson's so she made LOTS of crumbs ;)) we would get lots of laughs out of that. Hoping they're together now in some way.
Happy Mothers Day to all!

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Amazingly, another year has already rolled around, and we are once again gathered together in loving remembrance and celebration of all our babies and all our moms. Our K9C family salutes each and every one. May those among us who are broken-hearted on this day feel our love and support. May those among us who are feeling stronger reach out to offer that support. Once a mom, always a mom. Forever and ever and ever.
Love grants us the power to hold our babies safely in our hearts forever.
Many hugs to all,
Marianne

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
I wanted to pause here today, once again, to offer my warmest thoughts to all our K9C moms. This is my second Mother’s Day without my own mom, and 27 years since my precious Barkis first made me a mom myself. Such dear memories of all those we have loved, and still do. I am so grateful for this morning’s perfect walk with little Luna. I felt as though Spirit Peg and Spirit Barkis were right there beside us on this bright sunny day. Upon our return, though, the house is now quiet without my mom greeting us and giving Lunie a hug. I still miss her so much. I always will. In closing, I’d like to repeat a bit of what I wrote a couple of years ago:
Quote:
May those among us who are broken-hearted on this day feel our love and support. May those among us who are feeling stronger reach out to offer that support. Once a mom, always a mom. Love grants us the power to hold our babies safely in our hearts forever.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
I think for those whose moms have passed on we will always miss them. There is always a special section on our hearts reserved just for them.
I still go out and chat with mom and Molly's stars in the sky.
Happy mothers day everyone

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Yes, this is the first Mother’s Day without my mom and it sucks! Those of you who are blessed to still have your mom with you, never take her for granted. No matter how long you have her, it’s never long enough.

I just wanted to repeat my well wishes to all our K9C moms this weekend, especially those who have suffered losses and separations during this past, most difficult, year. Hopefully there have finally been some reunions again, as well! But for all those who are missing their own moms or their babies, I send you my wishes for peace and comfort. Even though our arms may be empty, let our hearts remain forever full.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Thank you, Marianne. I know yesterday was difficult for you but I hope you were able to rely on the more uplifting memories to carry you thru.
For me, yesterday was bittersweet. Not only because of Gia but it was the 7th anniversary of Squirt's passing. However, my son was able to come see me. He and his girlfriend came down and took me to lunch. So he brought much joy into the day for me, something I will cherish always.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
Oh Leslie, that’s *terrific* news about getting to have lunch with your son!! I’m so happy for you! I surely do understand about your mixture of feelings associated with yesterday, but I know what a tremendous gift it was for you to spend time with your son.
Tons of happy hugs for you!

For the first time in 30 years, I’ll be celebrating this day without my mom or a furkid physically beside me. My mom left us four years ago, and Luna left us five months ago. I have no human children, so my dogs have truly always been my little ones. It’s an odd feeling for the house to be so quiet this morning. But the sun is shining brightly, and my long-standing tradition has been to plant flowers in my window boxes and porch pots on this day. My mom and I always did it together when she was here. The doggies always loved to sniff and watch when they were here. Today it will just be me and the flower blooms. But in my mind’s eye and in my heart, everyone will still be joining in. And I’ll think of them all every time I look at my flowers.
Sending my best wishes for peace and comfort to all our family on this Mother’s Day morning. No matter what, love is forever.

Re: We Honor Mother's Day
That's such a lovely tradition, Marianne. My mom died almost three years ago, but with the Alzheimer's, was really gone years before that. The last few years she could not celebrate with us. Memories come up on Facebook of days with her and those without.
And of course I miss all my furbabies who have left us, they are in those Facebook memories as well. I still have Cooper and my Sibbles...it feels weird only having two dogs, LOL! The grandsons are busy with their own friends and activities, so this Mother's Day will be a quiet one with just me and hubby. He has had some energy these last couple of weeks and is busy restoring all my garden ornaments that have rusted. My garden is flourishing and me and the dogs will just sit outside, relax, and I will read or crochet...and take plenty of pictures, of course. Not a bad way to spend the day!
So, Happy Mother's Day to you, dear Marianne! And to all my sisters on this forum.....
