Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
I'm glad you said to wait on the warty things if it has already been 2 hours.
Maybe another hour for Flynn to wake up? We always feel better when they are awake. I hope that leg will be better now and not bothering him.
What did this say for recovery? What is the post op plan?

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
I'm glad he was able to get all the lipomas! Flynn is bound to feel more comfortable now. Hopefully the next word you hear is that he's up and ready for his Mom!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Yes, I will be pleased to get the call he is awake!!! They close at 5.30, but Mike always says they are open until no pets need them anymore :p So that's 5 hrs of recovery time! Got all his blankets washed and his bed ready in the lounge for him. He is not a very good patient at times  so I hope the Temgesic he was having with his pre med is long worn off. I have had a few sleepless nights with that drug on board!! We are planning on using Previcox and Tramadol for pain.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Yes, two very long hours. :o So glad Mike got all the lipomas. Now it's time to wake up Flynny boy!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Flynn a bad patient? I dont believe it:D:D;) That innocent, angel face pup? Never!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D
Ok, maybe once in awhile but he is entitled.:):):):):)
Wake up Flynn, mama and the crew are waiting!!!
He will probably zonk out most of the night, I would think.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Ha, I hope he does not have too many bandages on.. he hates those!! He seems to fight against the pain meds instead of just going to sleep, then when he has stuff like Temgesic he gets a bit whacko.... doesn't knw what he wants to do etc.. inside, outside, no settling... maybe we just don't give him enough!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
It's a fine line with pain meds, isn't? You don't want to give him too much either. :o
Waiting is hard! So many concerned aunties who adore Flynn.
Waky uppy Flynny Boy!!!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
What time is it there Trish? Is there anyone there with you, other than all of us?
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Do they have medical marijuana for dogs?:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p
Ok, I must be getting punchy from working all those hour.:o:o:o:o:o
Probably that front one will be bandaged, I think. Maybe some of the drugs just make him feel weird. I don't do well with pain meds, either, some of them give me anxiety attacks. So I can totally relate Flynn.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
I hope he doesn't have to wear the cone of shame. He would hate that!:o I know that our boy does not want to look like a desk lamp! lol
Maybe a T-shirt? Do you think he will leave his stitches alone?
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Checking in to see if he's awake yet.....
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Good timing Marianne, just had the call and yes he is awake and sitting up in his cage and appears to be quite comfortable. I have to ring at 4.30pm and if all good pick him up at 5pm. Have not spoken with Mike yet, but the nurse sounded happy with him.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Addy, that's funny about the medical marijuana. We do not even allow it for humans, there was a story in the news about this a couple of weeks back and people here were going to Colorado to get it!!!
He has not worn cone of shame for his last ops and he was ok, did nibble one end of a stitch but it did not come out.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Ok, I'm finally home and everybody has been outside and fed. Got caught up on Flynn, whew, this has been a busy place for the past few hours!! :D
Everything sounds great so far Trish, very pleased to read that Mike got all the lipomas and he is awake and all is going well. So relieved. :) :D Will be waiting to hear the report from Mike.
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Hurrah!!!! Our boy is awake. High Five Flynn!!! AND he seems comfortable.:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
They are articles in our papers about medical marijuana helping people addicted to pain meds and possibly replacing those meds for people.
Not sure if that is hype or what.:confused::confused:
Guess you need to bring Flynn to Colorado!!!! I think they passed a law now for Wisconsin to have it but we dont have stores like Colorado.
YET:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D:D

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so glad he is awake and doing good! I am sure he will recover nice and fast :D:D **Paws Crossed** Can't wait to see him, even after his major surgery I was allowed in earlier than that! But I guess this place is smaller and they don't want a paranoid Mum there bugging them!! Want to speak to Mike as well and hear the guts of the surgery!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
The medical marijuana story here was about a young girl with a seizure disorder and that is what calms her and works the best, but she cannot access it here. So the Mum was taking her to Colorado and the Dad was staying in NZ to work and keep the funds coming in
Hi Sharlene and Tina... time for the chocolate!! Well not for me, but you guys go ahead!! I was tempted to buy Godiva chocolates that I saw in Duty Free in Sydney but resisted!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
YAY, FLYNN! :cool::cool::cool:
Now you can take a nap so you are refreshed for when he comes home this afternoon. Or eat chocolate...I'd go for the chocolate myself! :D
Yes, Sharlene, there's plenty left over! Grab a plate and dig in!

Now that I've heard this news, I'm gonna need to turn in and get some sleep myself. But I'll be checking back first thing as soon as I get up in the morning.
Nighty-night, all. And GOOD BOY FLYNNY!!!
-
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Sorry, I had a bunch of stuff to do around here since I got home so late. Have you gone to pick him up? I hope so! I will be up for a little bit yet, but will be heading to bed soon. Will check back in a bit. I can't wait to hear all the good news. :)
-
Yep, got him home and settled in his bed on the floor next to me.
The poor boy, he has 7 incisions and he got 9 lipomas out and a couple of the little warty/cysty things. He is stapled up, all wounds are open. He has a drain in the big one removed from his side. On Augmentin. Had injection of Meloxicam and I am to give him his Tramadol. He pretty sleepy and wobbly, did a pee at the vets but did not want to go when I put him on the lawn when we got home.
So he is all tucked up in his bed on a soft towel with blanky over him. Man he has a very weird haircut, where they have shaved him, looks like a very funky Mohawk down his back. He is out to it at the moment, hope he stays asleep for a good long time.
Mike said none of them looked nasty or suspicious just normal lipomas. The one on his front shoulder was quite dense and had trapped a nerve under it. That's the one that I said he was limping when he gets up, he said the nerve would have gone numb while he lay on it and that's why he limped a bit and it came right but that it would have just got worse. The ones in his back groin had popped through the muscle and the one on his other side was down to and around his lowest rib. Plus one in his back leg was also in the muscle. So he said it was definitely time to get them out or they would have gone on to give him much more trouble.
He said to offer him bit of food later, but he had 500ml IV fluids so not to worry if he won't drink. I have to call him tomorrow to let him know how he is doing. Mike carried him out to the car telling us what a good gentle boy he was (don't think the neighbourhood cats agree with that assessment!) but so pleased to have him home and all this behind us. I am looking forward to him feeling more comfortable without those big lumps affecting him anymore!!
Thanks for support today Team Flynn :D:D:D couldn't ask for a better support crew!xxxx will keep you updated and do some photos when he is feeling better x

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
So glad to hear this, the did need to come off. I bet he looks funky with his haircut but he can carry that off as he is a funky little man.
Sorry I didn't keep up last night but took my tramadol and zonked out but I see you were in capable hands. Go Team Flynn you rock :D

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Awww the poor wee man, just took him out to pee which he did after standing there for a few minutes. His leg he lifts to pee has incision in the groin and also the back muscle of same leg, hamstring if that is what dogs have?? He limping and dragging it a bit, which is not surprising. I carried him out and back in but he looks so sorry for himself.
He slept a good two hours, then I made him a scrambled egg and he lapped it up like he was starving and got his usual nighttime meds into him plus gave him the tramadol.
Tucked him back in his bed, think I will be on the couch for the night as it is much lower than my bed and I can keep a watch on him much better and keep the lights dim so I can see what is going on. Hope the tramadol does not make him loopy, when I was giving it for his arthritis last year he only had 12.5mg, but Mike said to give him 3 squirts so that is 37.5mg... he can have up to 65mg so we kinda mid range for him. Hope he gets some rest now he has eaten and pee'ed. x

Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
aww, this is the hard part but he will be right in a bit. Poor boy, but having them out will now make him feel so much better. I'm sure he will heal up quickly and be digging to China in no time.
Hope you are ok sleeping on the couch.
give our boy a sloppy kiss on the head or nose from me. I'll check in at lunch time, stilll have to work till 4pm today, I get to leave a wee bit early.
We have hubby's sister coming in from NYC next week. I've been cleaning like a mad woman for a month!!!:rolleyes::p
Still need to clean the carpets.
Have a good sleep Trish
