Re: almost diagnosed
Barbara:
Tipper made it thru well, you can check my post. I was a nervous wreck about her eyes. She so enjoys walking that would depress her so much to lose her sight. I am hoping you did not get any of this, the wind and thunder were the pits. We have high winds today also. I will take 10 feet of snow any day rather than yesterdays weather. Hope it is gone for good!! Blessings

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara:
I am so glad you did not have the thunder. It is so late in the season for this. I hope it is gone permanently. It is very cold here and tried to snow last nite. I am anxious to see Tipper's blood work in about a month. I am using the fish oil on her food and she loves it. I noticed the place I got it from sent me an email that they have free shipping so I am ordering more to save on the shipping. Have you thought about what you will do to get Trixie's values down? I am hoping this works for Tipper. It was a cold walk this morning and Tipper loved it. It may be really cold if you walk by the river this morning. Blessings

Re: almost diagnosed
HI Barbara!
Hope things are going good for you & little Trixie. I hope you are enjoying some pretty walks with all the leaves changing colors. You probably have been seeing that for awhile now. We are just now getting the pretty trees here in Texas soon to be leafless..

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Amy,
Yes we have been having nice walks amid the autumn leaves! The city is always the last to turn around here..the trees are getting bare in most of the NY suburbs. We still have leaves on the trees in Manhattan but probably not for too long!
I hope Boriss is doing well! :p

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara:
We are in for some snow this weekend. I did not get to look and see if you are to get any. I have to take Tipper to laser therapy today and then the appointments are done for the week. Monday we go to Pgh. to the eye Dr. Hope the roads are clear as we leave at 6am. Tipper is still loving the cold weather. I may be taking the cat to the vet today, he is still not 100%. Hope Trixie has a good walk in the brisk air. Blessings

Re: almost diagnosed
Oh Patti...I'm sorry the cat is still not feeling well. I guess you'll be off to the vet with Lucky. I hope that it's nothing serious.
Yes..we had our usual walk this morning...perfect weather..cold but not windy. We are going to take another walk in just a little while.
Trixie still drinks more than she did before Cushings, about 16-18oz a day...which is pretty much 1 ounce for each of her 17 pounds.
She drinks about 5oz when she gets in from her walk in the morning...we are out walking about an hour so she's thirsty. Then a little more after her meal, and that's usually it until the late afternoon and evening when she seems to drink more than during the day.
After she has her 10pm pills she usually doesn't go back to the water dish. During the worst of her symptoms she would drink as soon as she hopped off the bed in the morning but thankfully she doesn't do that anymore. (knock wood)
Wish I didn't have to feel so worried about this all the time. I guess if her liver enzymes were not so high I could feel more at ease..
She doesn't seem to have any symptoms of liver disease..I guess if the numbers don't come down when we retest I'll have to get her another ultrasound. :( Hoping they DO come down though! :p

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara, you can always pop her over at any point and say, just want to have her ALT/ALP checked. Was that the only two high? But just check the liver and not do a whole blood test. I've been known to do that with Molly just to see how the liver is doing and if we are having any affect in getting the numbers down.

Re: almost diagnosed
Sharlene...I didn't know I could do that but I think I will as soon as we have a few more weeks of Denamarin. On the last test the 3 liver numbers were all high...the alk had come down from the August test but only a bit, the other two went up slightly. The only other numbers out of range were cholesterol and triglycerides. Everything else was normal.
I have a case of the nerves these last few days. :( Trixie is still energetic and acting fine but I am so worried about those numbers....plus she is still drinking more than she used to and that always worries me.
Like I mentioned before, after our long morning walk she usually has a big drink 5oz or so but then she doesn't really go back to the water bowl for about 3-4 hours. She drinks more in the evenings.
She comes in from outside at around 9-9:30am and doesn't need to go out again until about 5pm.
All gastro related stuff has been excellent. She has a big appetite and good energy. When I look at all that I think she's really doing great but then I have these doubts..I keep going over all of it trying to convince myself she's okay.
She's been on the medication since March but really she was not well controlled until the beginning of October, it really took awhile...so maybe the liver numbers just need a bit more time? I am hoping that is the case.
It's been bothering me all day today. She drinks about 16-18oz...so 1 ounce for each pound..is that out of line? It's just that it's more than she used to drink.

Re: almost diagnosed
I think it took me over a year to see any sort of decrease on Molly's liver numbers and it hasn't been much, but I'll take it.
I think it takes longer for supplements to show an affect that for say a medication type of situation. So I'm trying to be patient too, but yes, liver, and lymph nodes and of course the adrenal glands are my biggest concerns too.
You can't help it some days, if you notice something a tiny big different to go into a full blown worry. It's almost the nature of the beast.
For instance, Molly ate her breakfast, All of it, then ate some dry kibble for dinner, without anything extra on it and then a couple little pieces of chicken breast later and is still acting hungry tonight. I immediately thought I need another LDDS done, but I know that that is today and that it hasn't been like that for any other day, so I'll wait and watch and see what she does in the coming days.
I just want you to know, you aren't alone, I'm right there with you. Worry, and then more worry, then other days I think, pfft, I'm imagining this because today is like this, where as yesterday was like that.
Hang in there. :) Trixie over all is doing very well.
hugs,
Sharlene and Molly Muffin
