Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Letti!! :D It's nice of you to say hello. Hope you and Meeko are doing well!!
Hi Addy :p--I'm so glad Koko didn't run off when he ejected himself from his harness! That is scary. We have cold temps but nothing too extreme yet...
Hi Patti :)-- No wild weather here in NY. Chilly for sure, and I don't mind a bit. Trixie just seems to love sticking her nose up in the cold air while we briskly walk along. It has not been that cold compared to your temps in the teens. When we left this morning it was 34 degrees... The city stays quite a bit warmer than our suburbs here because of all the thermal heating...I guess that's the steam pipes under the streets combined with all the buildings and people that create heat.
The park was beautiful today and lots of dogs out off leash...Trixie loved it..sniffs around all the leaf piles and has a great time.
She's been especially playful and energetic which is great but she is bugging me to play while I'm having my coffee! You would think she would be ready for a nap after a long walk out in the cold but she seems more energized than ever! I'll take it...happy that she seems to be doing really well.

Re: almost diagnosed
They do seem to get that extra bounce in the their step and an unknown reserve of energy when the weather gets cooler don't they. Going to have to have a chat with her about the seriousness of coffee time!!! LOL
Molly does that too, gets all energetic when I'm ready to just chill out for a bit.
Oh Addy, that is scary about Koko and his harness! goodness. Maybe the one Mel mentioned will work?
Hope so.

Re: almost diagnosed
HI Barbara
I am going to ask my new specialist vet about the hyperlipidaemia/liver problem as this is the same with Flynny, will let you know if I learn anything new. Hope you have a great weekend with Trixie, she sure sounds like she has a spring in her step and that has to be good!

Re: almost diagnosed
Addy, I have cloth harnesses made by "Puppia" that I ordered for Daisy from Amazon. Being deep chested, I went with the next size up and rebuilt the larger portion. They're sturdy, comfortable, and cute.

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara:
I am glad Trixie is having a great time in the cold weather. It makes you feel so good when you see them energized, after all they have been through. I much prefer Tipper energized than sleeping all the time. She has really had a good couple days because of the temperature. I have taken her completely off the lentils, but they kept her from being hungry so we have a little of that going on now. Hope Trixie continues to do well. Blessings

Re: almost diagnosed
LOL No coat for Trixie! hahahah that was funny when I was reading it over on my thread. Guess she wouldn't be open to booties either? hehehehe
Trixie is just a girl who likes to go au'natural. :)

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara:
I hope for Trixie's sake you do not get the storms. I did not get to see the weather map so I don't know if it was going to hit you too. Tipper is already on high alert and feeling the effects. I pray no more thunder, as they said later this evening it will be bad. It is a shame this is happening so late in the season after she has been doing so well. I worried about her eyes. Hoping you do not get this. Blessings

Re: almost diagnosed
Hope things are good in NYC:):):) Warm rain here so that is better than snow.;)
Hope you and Trixie are enjoying a walk in Central Park.

Re: almost diagnosed
Patti...we are supposed to have rain and thunderstorms at around 3-4am thru dawn. It does say scattered so I hope they scatter elsewhere and miss the city!! I'm hoping Tipper is doing okay and that you don't get it too bad by you. I saw there was terrible damage thru the midwest.
Addy....I would rather snow than rain! Crazy, right!? It's so warm though so it's thunderstorms in the forecast.
It was really mild this morning so the walk in the park was great...so many dogs out today and Trixie loves that...lots to sniff!
I was thinking we might get rained out tomorrow morning but it's supposed to clear out by 8am...so I guess we'll be headed out early as usual! :p

Re: almost diagnosed
Hi Barbara,
Gosh, I hope those horrible storms miss you guys. We were lucky here, had thunder, lightning and heavy rain early Sunday morning, but the severe stuff stayed North of us before it moved to the East. How awful. Poor Tipper, I hope she did ok.
Glad to read that Trixie continues to do so well. I know, the elevated liver enzymes can be such a worry. From my understanding, the ALT sounds like it is more of a concern than ALP for our pups. Does your vet say that also? I remember my vet telling me that the ALP could always stay elevated in Jasper due to the Cushings, even if the cortisol was under control. Now that he has Addison's, I think it stays up due to the steroid he has to have, even though it is at a physiologic dose. But even with that, it shouldn't be as high as it has been lately. So frustrating! Jasper has hyperlipidemia also, and we treated that with Welactin fish oil way before he had Cushings. It helped significantly.
Thanks so much for your support and kind words on our thread. I have such a soft spot for schnauzers. I don't always get things posted, but I am always following your thread and keeping up with Trixie. She looks so much like my little Shelby. Jasper is solid black but he has turned more charcoal as he has gotten older. I think it is common for the black to fade in mini schnauzers, where the giant ones seem to always stay deep black. In our new avatar pic the wind was blowing about 35 mph so his ears look like the Flying Nun's hat, LOL. I was so grateful that I could get a new pic of him that I don't even care!
I hope the weather misses you and Trixie gets her walk in the park this morning.
Hugs,
Tina and Jasper
