Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
Good for Molly she seems to be doing better. how were her legs doing while she was walking? WE are waiting for a storm and Tipper is already on high alert. She was panting at the vets and worked up so her pressure was up due to this. He weight was down though! I am trying to make some beef stew. Just want something I can warm up tomorrow as I am just not feeling it today. I am glad her appointment is over and we have no more until next week. Blessings

Hi Sharlene,
I tell you I miss a lot when I don't get on this board like I used to!! I'm happy to read through your posts and get to the last one with all the good Molly news!! Good poops...yes, it's the same with us, it tells a lot about Trixie. Good energy, lots of sniffing!! Yes, indeed it sounds like Molly is on track and feeling good. Great news!! :p

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Great to hear that Molly is eating again. I think sometimes our pups have off days the same as we do - I know with Hamish there were days when he just wasn't his usual self and I used to say maybe he hadn't slept too well the night before......
OH is no longer enamoured with the new car - he can't get the garage door opener to work, and every time he sits in it he emerges with sticky hands etc. so is banned from going anywhere near Henry!
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
MC, I don't know why but when you said
Quote:

I just rolled laughing.
Do you take Henry kayaking? I was looking at Hamish's pic in the kayak. It really is awesome.
Barbara, I know! It's darn difficult to catch up when you miss any time on the forum.
Patti, Molly is just fine, her leg with the knee cap problem, wobbles on grass and is fine on firm sidewalk. Nature of the beast I suppose? Can't keep her off the grass, all the good smells are there. :)
I'm waiting on the gardener dude to show up. The arborist was here first thing and took care of his job this morning. (he gets kudos for that) While the other guy has rescheduled once and now I'm waiting to see if he shows today or not. la la la la la

Awww Thanks - that's one of my all time favourite pics of him. It really captures his adventurous spirit. :D
Well, we got Henry a life jacket last year but it was too small so we got a bigger one which is also now too small
however no plans to get the proper size as he's so bouncy we'd probably capsize within the first 10 seconds :p

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
How is it up your way/ We never got the storm yesterday but Pittsburgh did and they have flooding everywhere. Thank goodness for the storm passing us as Tipper has had it. Is Molly using the stairs to the window seat now? I bet you are ready for a good vacation?? Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
No storms here. Molly is in chill mode, grumbling at me a bit, for no reason, other than she wants to play, but work first. Then I'll be out for the night.
Urine collection in the morning! I'll be the crazy lady with the ladle running after the dog peeing. Yea, good times man, good times.
Ha, I bet Henry would tip the boat (so to speak), have to do some trial runs with him. That should be fun, take photos!
Back to work. I took lunch and went shoe shopping. Retail therapy works!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
I think I could use retail therapy. :D:D:D:D:D
and pool therapy, and vacation therapy and going to a really, really, nice restaurant therapy. You know, good stuff life therapy:D;)
Thanks for your kind words on my thread.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Yep we all need that from time to time Addy. Come on up, we'll shop, swim and hit the restaurants. :) :) I'm always game. LOL It was a walk down memory lane on your thread and more than a few tears shed, but as I said, it's okay, they were fond memories and wipe out the horrible one.
Today just started out bad, hubby is stressed at work and that ends up with us feeling it here at home too. I'm a bit stressed about work too. Our department could end up on the cutting block of the new CEO and there is just no way to tell when we'll know, this year, next year or what is going on.
All in all it ended at the shoe store and a pair of Ivanka Trump sandals in my possession, along with a few others. The nice thing is that I get to wear them tonight to the Jazz thing. Plus I'm not driving, so some girly drinks for me. Hubs will meet us at some point, after his meeting, but in the mean time I'm going with friends and we're meeting more friends there, so a big group of us to support this Jazz singer who is a friend of a friend. We love music so we'll go support friends playing, singing no matter where it is. This time it is in a very nice bar at an inn. (lucky us!) You should have seen us the night we did a jazz crawl. Rented a bus and went from stop to stop all over the area and into downtown Toronto. I got home at like 4am. Dead tired and a smile on my face. We do have some good times I have to admit.

Oh yea, Patti, Molly is using the steps now. She has no choice really as I have a long body pillow on each side of the steps so she can't just jump up. She isn't totally thrilled but has adapted to get to her beloved window. LOL
Will catch up on some threads then outta here. (yep I'll be dragging tomorrow but like I said, Denial is my friend!)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
That is really cool that Molly is using the steps! Tipper on the other hand will at times use the ramp and others she won't she is so stubborn and thinks her way is the only way! It was cool her yesterday and this morning, but the humidity is to return big time next week. These cooler temps are so much better for Tipper. Hope you had a ball watching the singer. Blessings

Just a quick note to let everyone know I am having internet problems and might be scarce until it is fixed.
I can read sometimes, but very seldom does a post go through.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Well, that just won't do Sharlene. We won't be able to laugh at your auto correct/ typos. :D I have been trying to get that bra on Rosie. It is like wrangling a pig at the county fair. She will have none of it!:D:D:D I hope it's fixed soon. Xxxxxx
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
hahahahah, Kathy!
It is when I am not on the computer and instead on a phone or ipad that you get the most autocorrect typo's. Fear not! If the computer goes kaput any more, then you're likely to see more typos as I try to stay connected with the phone. Of course my phone was acting up too. *sigh*
hmm, you mean one leg at a time doesn't work for bra'ing dogs? huh. How about that. Now pig wrestling. That is a visual indeed!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Good morning! Blardy computer problems, such a nuisance at times. You do very well typing on your phone, I revert to txt talk on there as it is so annoying typing on the tiny keyboard :D:D
You will have to tell us how the jazz was, good night? Not too much recovering needed the next day?? What a beautiful old building :)
Seems to be a week for work hassles, had my fair share too  Still 3-day weekend now, thanks Queen!
Pleased to hear you are swimming and shopping and Molly doing good too! x

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Jazz night was very good. That girl has a perfect pitch to her and some awesome vocal cords. I bought her latest cd. (of course) We had a good group, 10 of us there and sat around on couches and chairs and kept finger food and drinks coming all night. Then the friend who invited us picked up the tab for everyone, which was very nice too. Great time had by all. It is a nice building isn't it. We go to dinner there and sunday brunch sometimes, special oldies dance/dinner nights, put on by a local radio station, where they broadcast from the dance floor. Fun stuff!
Recovery was a bit tough this morning, my denial shot right out the window when I hubby woke me and said I'd have to go to the office today, still had to get molly's urine sample and drop at the vet. It was Not my best day by far. Of course my director dropped in for a chat today too.
So far my connection is holding good. Cross fingers they fixed it. It was an entire area from what I could tell and even if you don't use their services but someone else, they own the lines that brings it into your home. So, affected a lot of people. yea, tmi on telephone, cable, tv issues there right. LOLOLOL
Molly btw, was not cooperative with the collection process. Every time I'd reach down to put the container under her, she'd clamp up and move on. I was walking up and down the street with a plastic container with a bit of urine in it, putting it under every time she'd decide to go, on and on and on, till I finally said that is it, I hope I have enough. She also wouldn't do any other business this morning, but boy she had to when I got home from work!! LOL she was like, yea, lets go walkie NOW mom!! NOW, NOW! (punctuate with barks at me and the door combined, girl knows how to get her point across just fine when she wants to)
It's weekend Trish!! Lovely Queen, having a birthday and all. I enjoyed ours and hope you have a grand time too!
hugs

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Haha crazy dog lady following her dog with the container... someone wrote here once that they were doing the same and some kind neighbour told her she did not have to collect up the wee's just the poops!! Can't remember who it was now but it cracked me up... least I only have to do it in the privacy of our own yard!!
What a fab night and no bill at the end of it, love your friends!! :D:D
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
I bet the neighbor think you have lost your marbles with that container!! I cut a new Dixie cup down to about an inch high. Them I get a piece of sticky tape and wrap it inside out in a circle and put it on the end of a yard stick. I stick the cup to the tape and voila' I just walk along and don't have to bend over so she does not hear me getting near her precious Koochie to get a sample!! It works like a charm. Sometimes I even tape the sterile urine cup to the end and so it that way. Have a good weekend with Molly. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Oh the container I remember it well, luckily I usedto do it in my garden so no one saw :D
Next time your going out and your fab friends are picking up the tab lets us know I,ll come too. I like a bit of Jazz :D
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Me three!! Hope the gardener guy turned up this morning and got the job done finally. Just do it man!! Can't remember what you were up to tonight, but knowing you it will be something fab!
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sounds like a lovely evening, and how lovely of your friend to treat everyone.
Patti - that is a brilliant idea. When I had to get a sample from Hamish once the vet nurse said she'd do it so we were both following him down the (rather busy) street with a shallow dish. For a dog who normally stopped at anything and everything upright, he was awfully reticent!!
I'm shattered - I've been cleaning the cars' interiors, including the one where Henry decided to sample OH's large bag of bagel chips whilst we were on vacation...... unbelievably it was worse than the time he tried the banana cake

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
Hope you and Molly are having a good weekend. We are to have thunderstorms form Monday to Thursday, I am already sick thinking about it. Hope they do not come your way. I gave Tipper he second antibiotic pill and I guess in about a week it should either work or not. I had Tipper on the porch last nite blowing bubbles for her again, she never tires of it! Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
We were out to a bbq at a friends house last night. Always good to catch up with them, as they are a couple of our BFF's. :)
Molly is doing good, back to not wanting to eat so much though of her dry kibble. She wants to wait for the wet to go on it and then will eat that and a bit of the dry. Just not overly interested in food right now, seems to not be a big deal to her though, she has off days of eating, so not worried really.
hugs all,
Sharlene and molly muffin

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Funny how they have their definite foodie preferences!! Flynn is the same in preferring wet food. He does like the dehydrated food though. Is Molly's weight steady through her ups and downs with intake?
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Yes she seems to be okay weight wise. She has probably fluctuated about 2 lbs over the last 7 years at most. With most of her weight dropping during boarding, when she refuses to eat almost any dry food and then back up when she gets home and will eat dry again with the wet. She also doesn't eat as well or as much on days I am at the office compared to days that I am home. That is the only way you can actually tell that she doesn't like me being away from her for too long.
I did laundry and now am watching really terrible natural disaster end of the world movies. In that I can't believe this one studio "Asylum" cranks out these bad of movies over and over. yea, I know I'm watching them but it's almost like a funny by this point. Truly horrible acting too.
On the other hand, I LOVE Judi Dench. She is the awesome. I read that she is almost blind now and has her scripts read to her and she memorizes them. She hits it all on cue too, you'd never know. That is a true professional with an excellent memory.
Molly is actually having some problems today with her bad knee. If not one thing it's another, so she doesn't want to walk to far, I can see her being wobbly on it. I thought I was going to have to carry her on the return of a walk with a doggie friend. She sat down and didn't want to move. I gave her a bit of a leg massage, into the correct position and off she went like nothing was bothering her.
Maybe that is why she has been off her food today. (although wants her treats just fine and has had her dental bone) so calorie intake is okay.
hugs

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Yes Judi is fantastic, in this one she is a funny little old Irish lady looking for her son that was taken off her by the nuns in the 1950s, but she can equally do the whole imperious royal Queen too!! Such variety in her acting. Love her!
Not so keen on the sci-fi ones though, so think I would be off playing in the corner with Molly at your house right about now! :)
Good her weight is stable, not good with the limp!! Flynn is doing it more and more after getting up, I am not letting him jump out the car anymore. I always lift him in but he has been fine jumping out but just do not want him to jar it. He walks his off in a few steps too, it is only when he has been lying down a while. Haven't really gone over this with Mike as it comes and goes so much I forget about it a while. I wonder if they get spasm or something, like how you rubbed it away and they can walk it off sometimes. Dunno what the heck these episodes are!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Truly she is an all around actress, can play any part so well.
Spare me from dogs who are too smart for their own good. So, molly wants to play toss her kibble. So I throw a piece, she pounces, attacks, eats it. But one piece she pounced, threw it in air and it went down the floor vent. I distracted her with another piece, but then she went back to the vent and was barking at it for me to go get the piece she lost. Finally I got two pieces from her bowl, tossed her one, then went to the vent cover, took it off and she came over and watched me very carefully, and I put my hand down the vet and came back up with tada a piece of her food. Tossed it to her, put the cover back on. No way was that the original piece but she seems okay that I retrieve something for her. Mighty hunter here you know!
LOL

Hi Sharlene,
I just love reading about all of Molly's antics. She has such cute ways. Yes, they are so smart. Mine wouldn't forget where a morsel disappeared either!
Your jazz night out sounded so fun. I love live music, I just don't get out much anymore. I enjoy reading about all of your adventures, you and your hubs sure have a lot of fun.
I love Dame Judi also, she is a wonderful actress. Right now I have hockey on in the background but trying to get chores done also. :o
And trying to get an update posted on Jasper.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
I hope you did not get that terrible storm we had last nite. What a nite neither of us slept all nite and I am so exhausted. Hope yours went better than ours! Blessings
Patti
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hmm, don't think we got those storms. Molly slept through the night, I did too, and even though it was raining outside this morning, it didn't look like I'd missed a storm. I really think molly would have woke us up if it was like that though.
I did have a rather rough night, nightmares or bad dreams, something. Whatever it was, it's not good to be too close to me when they occur. (which isn't often) as I tend to take out whatever is near while doing battle. Hubs got it last night poor guy. I didn't see a black eye even though he swore I was all over the place and got him in the eye at one point. I have Epic dreams? Very detailed and like a full blown book. Seems I'm active during them too. oops. No wonder molly doesn't sleep right beside me. LOL She's smart. hahha
I do have to find out if the IMS still wants UPC number 3. She might, since the first was high, then this one so low. Only thing I changed was the food, to the lower fat content. interesting eh.
hugs all

Sharlene:
You are too funny. Your hubby is going to have to start wearing some head gear like the boxers wear!! Molly might have to get a mini one too! This is the first day Tipper is bugging me for food, and that dreaded panting. Her symptoms flare up very quickly when she has not had Vetoryl. She ate fine, but I want to see some poop that has a shape to it before we start back on it tomorrow. Real cool weather coming with the tornadoes tomorrow! Blessing.
