Re: new to Cushing searching for advise for Buttercup (Calcinosis cutis)
Hello everyone,
Its been a few month and Butters is doing so well. Will be getting her blood work done again next week and if it is still on the low side her Vet wants to reduce her dose to 5mg per day or possibly even take her off it all together for a while. Vet sent pics to Davis Derm dept and since her CC was so intense due to having not being able to start her meds sooner because of the radiation treatments, that large portions of her skin have actually become boney and the only way to correct it is to remove the masses, which of course I will not put her through that, she has been through enough and as long as she is happy and playful we will deal with the masses of boney hide. Fur is still coming back, but very slowly.

I just created another album of Buttercup, pics were just taken today

glad to hear that butters is doing fine!
isn't it possible that her body will dispose of the dead skin in time by itself?
i still see some muscle loss and weakness in her hind quarters.
i hope that will improve too.
keep on the good work!

Hello everyone,
Butters is doing well and the vet has taken her off the meds. Her numbers this last test were pre 1.6 post 1.9, which is way below the norm. I take her back in 2 weeks for another test and I'm sure that the Numbers will be good.
Re: new to Cushing searching for advise for Buttercup (Calcinosis cutis)
Yep, those stim numbers are trending a bit low. Glad to hear she is doing well, how is the CC?
Keep us updated, please. ;)
Hugs, Lori
Re: new to Cushing searching for advise for Buttercup (Calcinosis cutis)
The cc is very slow in healing, got feed back from Davis on it and was informed that to much damage was done and that we will have to live with large patches or hardens hide and bald spots for the rest of her life , the good new is that its not painfull and as long as she is happy and lovie all is well
Re: new to Cushing searching for advise for Buttercup (Calcinosis cutis)
As long as she is comfortable and happy that is what is important. Great to hear from you again and so glad Butters is still, well, Butters :)
Re: new to Cushing searching for advise for Buttercup (Calcinosis cutis)
2 years have passed since her treatment, has been off the meds for a while and her levels are still stable. The CC has scared her up badly, she has lost her sight in her left eye and the right side is starting to get a little cloudy. Even with all thatsaid she is still a love bug and SO food driven, every time she hears me in the kitchen she jumps up and follows me around, so as long as she still does that I know that things will be OK for now.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy new year
Dawn and Miss Buttercup

Oh Dawn, it is wonderful to hear back from you girls!! :) :)
Butters is so special to us all, and it warms my heart that she is still right there by your side. I am very sorry to hear about the visual problems, but you both have faced every challenge thus far so bravely that I have no doubt but that she will ultimately adjust to these new changes, as well.
Thanks so much for your holiday wishes, and I send the very same right back atcha! ;)
Please give Butters a big hug for me, and you take care of yourself, as well.
Marianne

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and so very good to hear from you again.
She sounds like she is doing wonderfully! I mean, yea the visual thing isn't great, but it's not life threatening. My molly too has developed visiaul impairment over the past year. It is what it is and doesn't seem to stop her from doing much. She takes her steps a bit more carefully and jumps at a leaf maybe while on a walk, but that isn't that bad.
Don't be a stranger! You're family!
