Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Wow, that must be 2 celcius? I just checked you out on my weather app... that is a bit warmer than usual, glad to see it is finally in the positives!! But with that flood of water you are pretty close to zero and I can see why you are concerned about the ice skating rink developing!! Do you do measurements in celcius in Canada? I always have to check my weather app to see what it is in celcius as do not understand farenheit! Don't you just hate it when you forget something. I was just about to bake a banana cake to take to Dad and his nurses and uh oh, only one egg left as I forgot them last time!! So I will do a grocery shop this arvo and pick up some more and bake it for them tomorrow. They have been so lovely to him, Dad rung Mum this morning and said the nurses had taken him the ward TV to watch. Last time he was in I hired one and at least it gave him something to do as he is not a reader although Mum took him Harry Potter and he is enjoying that!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Yep 2 Celsius is where we are at now, -2 Celsius over night. The states is I think the only place that uses farenheit. It's pretty easy if you remember that
32F = 0C It gives you and idea anyway. So 32F is freezing same as 0C. Yea, we're pretty happy to have above freezing even for a day or two. It won't last and I looked at the extended and basically the same up till the 20 March so far. That is not impressive at all!!

in europe we use celcius too. +2 in canada is almost summer right now!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hope your road was safe last night.
Looks like we'll be around 0C for the next few weeks :( I was hoping the groundhog was right and it would stay colder because Henry doesn't get so dirty when the ground is hard. Around 0 plus sun means the snow melts and there are muddy puddles everywhere

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hope all was well with the water burst and that it didn't freeze. We,re having a storm right now and got no electricity so reading by torch light it sounds like the windows could blow in any minute
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
yikes Tracy! That sounds like a heck of a storm.
I was getting my hair done today and my stylist was just telling me how he was home in England for 10 days and it was wonderful, raining and 8C. LOL He said one day of sunshine and him and his dad went golfing. I am guessing he wasn't around any of the flooding areas. LOL Might not care for the rain so much in that case.
Other than Molly hating thunder/lightening, I love a good rain storm. (if have a fireplace and am warm and snuggly somewhere)
The road did freeze over, but the guys were out there all night long till 8am working on it. (we didn't have water of course) and they had the road down to one lane and signs up to take it slow, people just creeped through, so no yard visits. That is really good~!
I slept through most of the work, just woke up once to some banging. It keep hubs and molly up quite a bit of the night though.
I agree, once the snow starts to melt it is full out mud and I noticed the last day or so, molly's paws are just YUCK when we get in.
Oh and no meds in my ear for 2 days and no ear ache!! whoo hooo!
hugs all

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Good ol' US of A. We tried switching to metrics many years ago but for some reason it just didn't fly. It seems kind of arrogant of us to be the only country in the world not on the metric system, I think. It can get confusing. Glad to hear the earache is a thing of the past. I too heard there is snow possibly coming to the east coast maybe Wednesday. What a winter!
I swear Bailey has more fans here....she could start her own fan club. She has really been a hit with the neighbors. She's got them all fooled thinking she's so cute. Silly doggie.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
LOL Sus... I get caught out on the ounces and quarts too... always forget what they are... now if we talking ml and kg I am fine!! If I really need to know I have to go google it!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
We woke up to more snow. I am feeling better, but not great. Did you get any new snow? Hope you are having a good weekend with Molly. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Lol Trish. When it comes to quarts etc think in 4ths instead a of 10s. Oh heck. Google!!! Lol
Oh shoot Patti. Sorry you still aren't well. No snow for us last night. I think ours is tonight but then it will be 6C on Monday and melt. Molly had some daddy time yesterday as I was out and about doing some girlie stuff. Him and her both seemed to enjoy it.
Susan but of course Bailey has her fan club. It was bound to happen once they got a look at her and met her. You'll be getting letters over the summer asking when she'll be coming back to Florida. Lol.
Looks like we are going to really get into the melt freeze stuff here this month.
With that come more snow usually too
Hugs all

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
Some of our snow has melted and it is about 40 out right now. I have taken the dogs on 2 walks. Tipper is acting strangely this morning, real subdued and distant. Don't know what all this is about. Every day it seems to be something else. I heard on the weather that a big storm is coming Thursday. Hope you don't get it also. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
18C today! in need of an airco..................
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Patti,
recently you said that Tipper seemed to have developed anxiety when you left. Could it be that she's even more sensitive to the storm that you're expecting?
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
Get ready cause the news just said this latest storm is going to have it all, ice, wind, snow. I know you are all too familiar with these. I am glad I went to the Dr. this morning and got that over with. I am taking it easy today. Tacos for supper, and just not going to do much. Tipper was crazy when I got home, she just does not like me to leave. Get Molly's coat ready, and stay safe. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi sharlene not been around much was having a few hard weeks but it's getting better.:D
How are you and the lovely Molly. We had glorious sunshine today what a change from all the rain, makes you want to get out of bed
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Great to see you Tracy! :) Always miss you when you aren't around. Glad you didn't sink under a load of beer! LOL
Patti, yep, we're ready for the storm. I'm working from home tomorrow. Molly will go out for her last walk before it gets here tonight.
Speaking of dog walks, we got a good melt going today and yesterday. (ice though this morning was a tad tricky) So, white dog and mud, boy did molly have a great time on her walk. She found some grass and went nutso, must have peed 3 times on it and pooped too, then did the back kick all over the place and ran to the next grass spot. Stepped on a thorn, but she held her paw up for me and I removed it. The girl knows not to walk on a thorn at least! She was literally dripping mud though by the time we got back in the front door!!! My foyer is a mess, even with towels to try and clean it up. LOL But she was happy so that is good.
Now she has had her dinner and is taking a nap till dad comes up and she gets her special "daddys is home treat" on the couch with him.
I on the other hand, have a sinus pain behind the left eye, so I know that barometric is changing. grrrrrrrr dang sinus pains are as good as the old broken bone in the foot for letting you know about a weather change. *sigh*
hugs to all,

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Awww!! So happy to hear that dear Molly had such a great time in the mud!:D
I know what you mean about those darn sinus headaches, I've had my sinuses operated on a long time ago and tho the infections have slowed down I still get that pressure sometimes. My doc has me trying a new product called QNASL and it has made a huge difference with my sinuses.
Hope your sinus pain goes away.
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Oh blimey - hope the weather changes quickly and the sinus pain goes away.
They're still trying to decide how much snow we'll be getting over the next few days, so I took Henry to kennels / day care today - I wanted him to like going before he got much older. He had a great time - was rather reluctant to leave, but has been asleep since returning home.
I was less happy as I fell over twice on their very icy parking lot - once with Henry in my arms! Fortunately he was unhurt as he landed on me, but I have a badly bruised elbow, back ache and lots of other bruises are now appearing :(
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Oh Lori, I'll have to look into that QNASL and ask Doc if that is a viable option for me. I've been xrayed numerous times and they still can't figure out why I have so many issues with sinus's. It would be different if it were like a runny nose or something, but unless I'm sick I don't get runny nose, just congested head.
Oh my gosh! Be careful out there. The ice here was horrible this morning, after the melt yesterday then the freeze over night. You didn't see it till your feet went flying out from under you basically. I was walking off sidewalk in the snow in yards and just said fooey on it, this is the only way to get molly out to go potty.
Man, you are going to feel that tomorrow even more. That sucks. Ouch. Glad Henry had a good time though.
I've heard 5 - 8 centimeters and 10 - 15 centimeters and over at Niagara it is looking maybe 15 - 20 cm. We'll just get however much depending on which way the wind blows. LOL Hunker in and enjoy that it looks pretty outside for a few hours. :)
hugs

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
OK now this storm is the last one.. you hear me Mother Nature?!!? :p I guess every one, is one less for the year! I see some warmer temps on my weather app for you lot so very soon they are going to stick and that will be the end of it and sayonara Winter!
Molly sounds like she had a splendid walk!! I love those little back kicks... so cute. Who cares about a mess when we have happy pups, I know I don't and I bet you don't either... but it would be nice if they learnt to use a mat  xx

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene:
We had the real heavy rain last note. I was hoping it would miss us. They said the temperature will drop 40 degrees here shortly. Hope you and Molly enjoyed the warmer weather. We have blood testing today and Tipper is currently being very naughty. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi all,
Patti if we had rain I slept right through it. I do like my sleep. :) It had just started snowing and we had a dusting starting when I woke up at 7:30. (got to sleep in since working from home today! whoo hooo, molly had a sleep in too)
Then, the snow continued, and continued some more, oh yea and then it continued some more, and we have alot of new snow now on top of the old. *sigh* Hubby had to use the snow blower. I could barely get the shovel through some of the big drifts to get a path down for molly at around 5:00pm. She did quickee pees and then had no trouble high tailing it for home! LOL I wasn't going to argue with her either. The snow on the paths was higher than her head, she looked like the queen molly trotting up it with her fur coat on tonight. Very regal.
Many flights are still cancelled tomorrow it looks like, so hubby won't be off and about, which I rather like anyway, when the weather is bad. Rather he didn't fly in storms ya know.
Molly is in rebel mode unless she is sleepy it seems and didn't want to be picked up and carried upstairs last night. Pfftt like she has an option. She was dancing around though trying to avoid the "lift", until she figured out that she wasn't going to win that argument. :) :)
Well, I'm exhausted. Full days work, snow vs shovel cage match, yea, a good nights sleep sounds perfect!
hugs all, sleep well, stay warm (or cool for you in those warm weather climates, you know the ones I'm trying not to think about, even though I did watch Beachfront properties on Home and Garden tv tonight, just to torture myself)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene!
Love your picture comments. :D
I have huffed and puffed and I got 70 degrees as far north as Delaware. I'm sorry you are having more snow and ice and yuk! Doesn't Mother Nature have a calendar? Doesn't she know she's supposed to be working on crocus and jonquils now? Not snow???:(
Stay off that ice. We don't need any more injuries or rehabbing going on.
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi girls
Sus, I think you huffed and puffed and got so dizzy you blew the wrong way... now we have a cyclone heading our way out the tropics!! It should not be too bad as once they hit our cooler southern oceans they tend to lose a lot of their nastiness, but it looks like we are in for a wet windy weekend!!
Sharlene, well that is one way to keep hubby confined to home!! Cancelled flights! Well I am pleased you are working at home at least, stuff going out in that!! One rebel dog, one determined Mom :D You and Molly make a great pair xxxxx :D
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
I figure you are buried up there like we are. How about that wind?? Tipper kept jumping up and was really afraid of the house last note. At least we were in the house safe and warm! Injad to make a path for the potty spot. We have ice under the snow so it is very dangerous. Watch out if you have it so Miss Molly is not sliding around. Be careful going to work and stay warm. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
i saw butterflies today and bumblebees and even birds nesting..............so you can send poor molly and tipper overhere....................
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
hahaha, molly would love the butterflies and probably the bees too knowing her.
Actually when we go on walks when the weather is nice, she always stops to smell flowers.
I might send myself over there if this keeps up. :) Actually we have to be approaching the end of winter soon. I figure we just need to close out march and get through april, when it can be damp and rainy and sometimes yes, even snow, but it doesn't stay on the ground long at that point.
It will be nice to get back into our outdoor activities. Molly likes going for walks with her dog friends and she'll get a hair cut for the summer too. Actually will probably do that sooner than later. It helps for the mud too. Not as much hair to get in. :)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
We have birds, bees, butterflies, spiders and lizards year round. That's what happens when you skip Winter all together. We only have Spring, Summer and a long Fall. Then it's Spring again. I don't know what an real Winter would actually be like???? I gather from your posts, that I would be freezing my backside off and slipping on ice. I am thinking, no thank you!:eek: xxxxx
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Wow Sharlene, you guys had enough snow to cancel flights...what a winter!! We had a big rain yesterday and 55 degrees...and then the bottom dropped out and last night it went down into the 20s.
This morning was brutal because of the wind. Of all the cold days we've had this winter somehow-maybe because we just had 2 very warm days- this one was the worst!
I could not take Trixie on a log walk, the wind made it difficult to be out more than about the 10-15 minutes we spent going 2 blocks and back.
Of course Trixie was ready to continue on but it wasn't going to happen today!
Hope that was the last big snow on the horizon, though March is not half over yet. :)

Yes, I hope you are all enjoying the great outdoors really soon too! I can just see Molly stopping on her walks to smell the roses, we could all learn something from that! xx

We had bad winds last nite but are supposed to go to 50 today so I hope we do. Hope you get some of this warmth up your way and Molly can walk. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Ok....I've got bright sunshine and 63 degrees right now.....I'm going to try this blowing thing again and see if I can't do a better job of it. I haven't seen gators to snatch a picture of yet, but on Bob's walk yesterday, he had to pick Bailey up when he spotted a gator. He walked on past one that was on the edge of the pond and when they got further down the walkway, he looked back and didn't see it at first, then he spotted it....it had crossed the road over to another pond. SPOOKEY!!!!:eek::eek::eek:
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
We had around 12 inches of snow yesterday, plus wind so it was blowing around quite a bit. Today everything is lovely and white - the trails are cleared so Henry and I will be heading out for a lovely long walk.
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Even our weather has improved now, what an earth is going on. This must be the longest winter in history
Has hubby got over the pneumonia now?
Hope miss Molly gets to get out today and do her thing :D
I like the idea of finishing at 2:30 do you need some help at your place. What I wouldn't do for a more sensible career :D

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
It warmed up today, then it's below freezing over the weekend, but then it looks like day time highs will make it over freezing for the upcoming days. Of course, that also comes with snow. :) :)
Well, it never works out that I can to be off at 2:30 as much as I'd like. Our IT department on the other hand sometimes puts in long, odd hours. Horrid.
Yep, molly will get out today once I get off work. :) :)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Glad to hear that it has warmed up a little. We have wind and rain just the usual, maybe I should move to Mels as she has sun. We had one day of sun and rain the rest
Glad to hear you got finished at 2.30 as you do out the hours in. How is molly doing is her back getting stronger yet :)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Tracy,
I think her back is doing better. I haven't gotten her back to the vet for recheck yet. I'm still not letting her do the stairs but the couch she can do if she wants. She hasn't tried it yet.
We're going to head out for a walk soon while there is sunshine and it isn't freezing.
opps spoke too soon. cst having problems. got to go

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Yep, we got out yesterday finally, and I don't think Molly would have come home at all if I hadn't finally made her. It wasn't that we went far, but that she had so many things to smell and check out that haven't been there for awhile.
Molly jumped on the couch last night for the first time in I think at least 7 weeks. Seemed mighty pleased with herself too. It was so she could take a nap next to her dad and while waiting on us to be ready for bed. I think carried her upstairs when we were finally ready as she was too sleepy to open her eyes for very long at all. (she is such a suck! LOL)
Nothing too exciting planned here this weekend. Hubby has a new laptop he is setting up. We're going to see what we can figure out concerning some vacation options this year. Just regular weekend stuff. Hang out, watch some movies or read a bit, maybe experiment with a recipe or something. We love our weekends after the long work week.
hugs all
