Re: Meet Grace!
I have just read the story of Grace - she is so very, very lucky to have found her way to you. I find it so hard to believe that her owners have let her get into such a terrible state, although I do wonder if it may be someone with Alzheimers - I remember reading of a dog who was adored by their owner who had Alzheimers, but neglected at the same time.

Re: Meet Grace!
Hi Leslie:
I am hoping this finds you and Grace well. I heard on our news that the south is going way down in the temps tonight, so you are going to get this cold snap. Do you think the Adequan would help Grace? Tipper goes for another shot tomorrow, and she needs one. She has had lots of the swallowing and sounding like her mouth is sticky inside. I am calling Dechra here in a while and will post what they say about the bone marrow. Blessings

Re: Meet Grace!
Grace drank water from the bowl just a few minutes ago! First time that I know of she's drank on her own!:cool::cool:

Re: Meet Grace!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Great news Leslie. Knowing that she can drink on her own is huge! Make sure the water bowl is always in the same place, so she'll be able to find it. Of course, you know this already having other blind babies, but I couldn't help myself.:D xxxxx

Re: Meet Grace!
Just heard from Doc and her GHS was PERFECT! He said even the marker for cancer was normal so this may not be breast cancer after all! WOOHOO!!!
-
Re: Meet Grace!
Yay, I'm glad her GHS is normal. Now can you tell me what in the heck a GHS is and what it would mean if a GHS was abnormal?

Re: Meet Grace!
:D Something I learned yesterday that I have been wrong about for some time. The GHS is the test that shows things like ALP, BUN, CHOL, etc. and I've been calling that the CBC. The CBC shows things like white blood cell elevations. GHS stands for General Health Screen.

Re: Meet Grace!
I know it's been said here already but I agree, Grace is so lucky to have you!

Re: Meet Grace!

Re: Meet Grace!
I kinda figured you meant a general health screening but that didn't sound right to me. My general health screening every year consists of blood, urine, pap, mammogram and dexiscan. The two screening blood tests we see here are the CBC (complete blood count) and blood chemistry. A complete blood count measures the concentration of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets in the blood. That's the one with the values we can't spell or pronounce. :D The best definition I could find for blood chemistry is "The blood chemistry test is divided into groups of basic blood tests that give specific information about the condition of the organs. The tests are grouped according to body functions including metabolism, drug absorption, blood circulation and body fluid balance." This is what you were calling a CBC. With suspected cancer, I would think Dr. B did both a CBC and blood chemistry and if Grace aced both, then WOOT, WOOT!
