Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Buddy Boy,
How can I rush home from work to be greeted by your killer smile when you're not there. You are supposed to be there! I miss you so much!
-
Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
:( When you were last on your work schedule Buddy was with you so you're bound to have sad feelings during the transition back to work, especially when you're on your way home. Of course you still miss him so much...it won't be easy the first few days.
Now you have a new chapter starting with Rosie there to greet you. I know it's not the same as Buddy, it's going to be different. Think how happy she'll be to see you come in the door each day. Nothing like being welcomed home by a dog!! :D Rosie will help you through, and all of us of course. :)

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Cherish the past memories and enjoy the new ones being made with Rosie.
It will be different with Rosie welcoming you home, but just the same she'll be happy to see you walk through the door and give you all the love you deserve to help you heal.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Awwww Kathy, it is hard, the coming home from work part but I know Rosie will help ease the pain in your heart.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Kathy:
I read your post and it made me cry. I am sure some part of you will still expect to see Buddy the first day you come home. Even though that is not possible, I know what you will be thinking. It is heart breaking that nothing is done about this horrible disease. Just know Buddy will be watching out for you when you get home, you may not see him, but he will be there. Blessings

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Sending you big hugs Kathy. It is going to be different, but hopefully Rosie will help to lessen the pain of the house being different when you come home. Now you'll be met by a little monkey who wants to climb all over you and hear how your day went and tell you all about hers. There will never be another Buddy, who was so unique and awesome, but there will also never be a little Rosie monkey.
hugs,

Hi Kathy
Hope your first day back goes well, I bet the kids are going to be so excited to see you!! It feels to me like you have been off for ages, such changes for you in that time. All the firsts are hard when you are missing Buddy, so be kind to yourself and try and soak up all Rosie's love to get you through the changes in your life xxxxxx

Hi Kathy,
I will be thinking about you too as you return to school. I know it will be hard and that you will be missing Buddy so much. Like Trish said, all the firsts are so hard. I'm glad you have your sweet little Rosie to be there to greet you when you get home.

Thanks gals for the work well wishes. I miss the kids and I'm ready to return, but I don't want to do it without Buddy. It will just be really weird and so sad. Big hugs,

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Back again, sorry when I posted last my phone rang and it was a good friend who has just got back from a trip to Turkey, so heard all about it, sounds a gorgeous place to visit. She said loads of dogs and cats about, the cats came into the restaurants! Bad thing was a dog bit her quite badly on the hand and she is having rabies shots :eek:

How sad for your coworker!
-
Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Kathy:
Very sad about your coworker. It is a shame as you really need the support of a village when you are dealing with Cushings. Hope your back to school day goes well, Buddy will be watching over you. Rosie will be glad when you get home. Is she eating well now? Blessings

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Oh that is sad cathy. :(. I found out someone in my neighbourhood had a dog they lost that had cushings too. I felt horrible and I have now put flyers up at our local pet store giving our website address and info. I have to make up more in fact since the ones I gave her have already been handed out. I hope it is helping.
We are all very lucky to have each other.
Hugs

Hi Kathy,
Quick stop by to check that you are ok. Hope Rosie is doing well and welcomes you with bouncing circles when you get home from school. Also hope the first day back goes well and that you have a great term ahead, I'm sure Buddy will be there watching over you. Take care and catch up with you soon.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Kathy:
I laughed so hard about the bra, isn't that the truth!! If you spray a few items like sticks or rocks with bitter apple and leave them outside in Rosie's path it may deter her from wanting to pick things up. I am glad she is getting that collar off, they are such an awful thing for the dog to have to wear. Thank goodness at least they have the soft ones now. Is Rosie eating good now? I bet your parents are spoiling here! Have a good weekend with Rosie. Blessings

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
One of my student's parents sent in a book today for me to read to the class. It was called something like, "I Will Love You always". Anyway, it was a story about a boy who had grown up with his dog/ best friend. They did everything together. As the dog aged and slowed down, she was able to do much less of course. She had put on a lot of weight, she could no longer get up the stairs and had to be carried to bed and she wasn't able to walk very far or very long. The dog finally dies toward the end. The point of the story being that they never really leave you. One of my students has an ill dog at home that is not going to last much longer, so the mom sent the book in with him, so the class could talk about it. I put the book under the overhead projector and started to read the story. It started innocently enough with a baby boy and a puppy. I should have read it through first before I decided to go ahead and share it. I totally fell apart in the middle of the story and had to compose myself to finish it. It was sad and heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. It was something that I was not emotionally ready to do.:o Shortly after I finished the story, it was lunchtime and I whisked the kids off to lunch through my tears. I then went back to my classroom and cried my heart out. I thought I was doing pretty well, but I still have a long way to go.:o

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Oh gawd, that is awful. How did the kids react? What a sad thing to have to do with all of them :( I bet you will be reviewing books brought it for you to read  Sorry you had to experience that Kathy and I really feel for the little boy whose dog is poorly xx
-
Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Kathy:
I really feel for you. Somehow when you started out telling the story of the book, I knew it was going to be bad. Children are so intuitive I am sure they knew you were sad about something. Have you ever shared with them that Buddy passed? I believe since Buddy was so special that it will take a great deal of time, for your heart to heal. I think of you and Buddy often and say a prayer for you both every nite. Blessings

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Oh, Kathy, I can only imagine how tough that was. But I believe you probably taught your kids more than you can comprehend about love and loss yesterday. They saw your heart broken, they saw your tears for a pup you love and lost, they saw that it is alright to grieve and to hurt for a pup you love, they saw that even adults can and do love their pups very deeply. You showed them true love - something many kids never see and never have an opportunity to understand.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
That would have made me cry too! Just reading your message left me with a lump in my throat. Our dogs have such a special place in our hearts--- forever!! It's okay to have a good cry anyway, you probably needed it..just glad you got the kids off to lunch and had a little time alone to let the tears flow.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Hi kathy
That must of been so tough. They bring so much happiness and fun but so much pain when they leave. I'm obviously missing Tom but it is 13 months since tam left and while I think about the good things with her rather than her leaving most days there are still days when tears come to my eyes.
They are amazing little creatures.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Some days are just harder than others. That book was bound to bring up feelings of what you have just gone though yourself. :(

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
One of the boys in my class (a major challenge;)) came up to me snickering when he entered class this morning and asked if I was going to cry in class today. I looked at him right in the eyes and said that it all depends on how well he behaves. He then went to his seat and sat down quietly. That was a first!:D xxxx

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Oh Kathy, Reading that story must have been so hard. Just reading your post made me cry.
Big Hugs

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Hi Kathy, that story just might be a life's lesson, especially for the boy that asked if you were going to cry again.
I'll bet that they remember that moment for a long time, and if not it will come back to them later in life especially when they have kids of their own and pets.
Just goes to show them that teachers have emotions too, and it is something that I know I'd look back on in later years.
Hugs to you!

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Kathy:
What a little stinker he is!! I bet you can always count on him for some devilment. I think it was wonderful what the class learned from you that day, and that they will have compassion for all God's creatures. You became really human to them, instead of just their teacher when they saw your emotions, and that is a good thing. Not that you aren't, but they probably look at you differently now for the better. I would venture to say they have a most wonderful teacher. Blessings

Oh Kathy, so sorry about the book in class, but good for you that you showed them you were human, take care, missing Sim too

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Why are there so many clueless, insensitive people out there? Several people have commented about Rosie (or puppies in general) replacing the one that was lost. Yes, I have Rosie now. However, she will NEVER replace Buddy, as he is irreplaceable. I still miss him as much as ever.:o
-
Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Of course Buddy is irreplaceable. Just looking at his avatar photo...the cutie. I miss hearing about him.
