It has been almost six weeks since I set Buddy free. I have been wanting to start a memory thread for him. Every time I start to think about what I want to say, I end up crying my heart out once again and can't continue.

Marianne asked if I would share how Buddy came into my life. I can't even do that yet.

Rosie is the sweetest, easiest and most agreeable puppy I have ever known. She's smart, listens and learns quickly, always aiming to please. I hit the jackpot with her. She even has the old folks wrapped around her little paws. Not bad for seniors who didn't want another dog. I think she has an old soul, as she is wise beyond her age. The problem is that she's not Buddy and I still want him. I thought I was done sitting up half the night crying about Buddy. I guess not, because it's 1:30 AM and here I am again. :(

Ah Kathy, I am so very sorry you are having such a difficult time. I wish there was something I could do or say to make you feel better, but none of us truly knows how the other one feels, especially when it comes to our pets.

I am glad though you are enjoying Rosie, and although she will never re-place Buddy, she will bring her own little style with her to help you along the way.

I truly hope that each day for you can be just a little easier to get through, and someday when you think of Buddy it will replace the tears with a huge smile.

I am glad Rosie has got the folks around her little finger, at least you don't have to worry about that.

It is so hard to lose one of the best friends we will ever have. I will pray for buddy and his. There will be a time when the first thing you think if is the funny things buddy did and all the years and smile. And still miss him.
I got chelle two weeks after I lost tammy. I have now had her nearly 12 months. She is as amazing a dog as tam was but she isn't tam she's chelle. The only thing her and tam have in common is picking on poor old tommy.

Awww stink Kathy, sorry I was not here much tonight. Few of the other night owls are though :) Well not Mel, she is an early owl :) Hope you got some sleep and that little minx Rosie can cheer you up in the morning xxx

Not being able to write about Buddy is totally understandable. I know your heart aches for him, and that Rosie will never fill that void. Buddy was such a star, and the brightest star in your universe. Buddy was all yours and always will be in your heart. I am so sorry this had to happen to you, I think of your Buddy every time I look at Toby, and a sadness comes over me. Funny thing, they were going to do away with Toby because he would not hold his ears up. Well the past 2 weeks he started to put his ears up a few times a day. Isn't it ironic that somebody could get rid of a puppy for such a reason, and all of us would do anything to keep our babies with us as long as possible? Shows how little value some people have of animals lives. The complete opposite is found on here though. As I told Vicki once, I too will walk in your shoes one day, so my thoughts and prayers are always with you and precious Buddy. Blessings

Whenever I am out walking Trixie and I see a Yorkie, and I see many as they're very popular city dogs, I think of Buddy. We have a Yorkie friend from next door...his name is Lucky- he was a rescue from the ASPCA and he's such a cutie. He is not a teeny Yorkie but a bigger guy...and he especially reminds me of your Buddy.
I know you miss him. I know Rosie is not Buddy but I'm so glad you have her. :p

Buddy was a bigger guy too. He weighed 16 pounds. I like the bigger ones because they they are stronger, sturdier and less fragile. Thank you for your sweet message. Xxxxx

I tried so many times to write about Hamish, but I'm not great at putting my feelings into words, or typing when I'm crying! I really wanted to post something for his birthday, but it took me 7 months of trying.

It would seem that everything you do these days is being tracked! Next it will be how many time we use the potty. I would not be able to write about Tipper either. It is way too soon. Buddy meant the world to you, and when it's time to share about him you will know. Just take this time for yourself now and heal. I still think of you and Buddy daily. I am glad you are going back to school as that will keep your mind busy for part of the day, and maybe help to soften the blow of all this. Know that I truly understand how you feel, and I miss your Buddy too. There has always been something about a terriers face that I cannot resist. They are my favorite breed of dog and I have had many during my lifetime. Buddy's face was just irresistible to me. Blessings

OMG - The front doors were open this morning except for the security doors. We do that to get a breeze through. A cat fight took place this morning on the other side of the doors. It was loud and vicious. Rosie continued to lay on the carpet and play with a water bottle, oblivious to the ruckus outside. Buddy would've had a coronary! He would've been barking and running around hysterically! :eek::eek: The cats were fighting it out to the death, so I went out front and turned the hose on both of them. That broke them up and they took off in separate directions. When I came back in the house, Rosie was still happily playing with her water bottle. She didn't have a clue what happened and didn't care. I am not used to the zen nature of this puppy.:confused:

Wow...Trixie would have been like Buddy and barked her head off. Cat fights are scary...and the crazy noises they make. yow!

Rosie is still a baby and a relaxed one at that! Guess not much is going to ruffle her feathers which in my opinion is a good thing!! :D

Don't know if you ever watched animal planet, but last nite they had a Yorkie named Captain on. If anyone flushed the toilet he would go ballistic. He was actually trying to get at the water going down, and jumping up and down a hundred miles an hour like he was throwing a tantrum. All the while barking his little head off. It was hilarious. It made me think of Buddy. It was a cutest dog contest, and he won. I am sure your Buddy could have captured this title easily. I can't believe how chilled out Rosie is. The patience of a Saint, and such a sweet personality. She is on the other end of the spectrum from Buddy. Cats can really get into it. My two fortunately are best buds so they get along well, not that there is not a disagreement once in a great while, but it is only a talking to one. Blessings

I can't believe it is time for you to go back to school. Summer always goes by so quickly. It is way too short!!! At least here in Wisconsin it is way too short.:):):) Remember the lazy summer days of our youth and how summer stretched on forever?

I just know Labor Day weekend the stores will put out their Christmas decorations:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Good thinking turning the water hose on. I probably would have run out to scare them and ended up with shredded legs.
Seems Rosie is laid back, that's really good.

I would have done the same with the hose Kathy! :D That would be if Flynn had not got there to break the fight up first! He is like Buddy in that regard, I swear he can hear a cat walking outside our house and is immediately on full alert. One silly moggy came into the house on the weekend, well it only got about 4 paces inside the front door when Flynn spotted it, he was on the couch and he just about hit the roof in shock before he flew about 10 feet through the air and was in hot pursuit! Silly me leaving the front door open :eek: Puss escaped, it is the one that has moved in next door. Their house is two storey and looks over part of my back yard and the cat sits on the balcony giving Flynn the evil eye and he goes berserk, nothing wrong with his eyesight :D:D... funny aren't they xx

Our house faces a wooded area where several feral cats live. At night it often sounds like a murder is taking place out in the woods! One nite we were all asleep when all of a sudden the murder sounds were happening right under our open bedroom window. Squirt and Trink both stood up and were barking their heads off (Trink's front feet coming up with each bark), Sophie was charging the wall where the window is growling and barking, and Brick was stomping around doing his little "ARK ARK" sounds! It was quite a concert there for a while! :p

Yes exactly ladies! Barking hysterically and going berserk are normal behaviors for a dog when a cat fight is occurring right outside. ;) That would be Buddy and every other dog I know, except for Rosie.
Playing passively with an empty water bottle the entire time, and not reacting at all, is not normal dog behavior! Chilled out is one thing. Rosie is baby Buddha!

Baby Buddha indeed. Molly would get her freak on for sure. :D

Rosie's one laid back pup. Not sure how Henry would react as he sometimes barks at absolutely nothing, but totally ignores the horrible black crows that invade our garden. Fairly sure Hamish would have ignored them too as he was rather laid back too.

Buddy crossed over the rainbow bridge 7 weeks ago today. His passing left a hole in my heart that will never close.

Buddy - I hope you are greeting all of the newbies with that fabulous smile of yours. I miss seeing you flash your pearly whites. Love and miss you, my brave boy.
