Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Well, she gobbled down her breakfast as usual, so that is good. But then went racing off to lurk in her crate, undoubtedly cuz she expects me to be re-examining her again which she HATES. But she was fine walking around the yard to take care of her business beforehand.
I do think she has some sort of chronic orthopedic issue where something slips or a nerve gets pinched in her neck/shoulder/back. She's had x-rays in the past, and physical exams that have turned up nothing so we know that the next step would probably be an MRI which we've avoided thus far because she'd had no acute issues for at least three years now and I was hoping they were done with :o. I try to be careful and do not throw balls for her to chase, just letting her run naturally on her own. In the past, she's had the problem while chasing something down. But last night she simply stood up from lying down and obviously something went wrong. Such a puzzle, such a puzzle. But thank goodness, she's better now and I probably won't even bother taking her in since there is nothing to be "seen" at the moment.
How is Flynn???
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
AWwww she is hiding from you :) just like Flynn when I turn the shower on and he realises its for him!!! That ortho history sounds similar to him too. Years ago, he did the sudden head drop, trembling, yelp like how you described but he stayed bad and got rushed to vet at night (not Mike way back then!). Xray showed a bit of a slipped disc at T12 if I remember rightly, it did not appear to be impinging on spinal canal either and he came right in a few days. I think those type of injuries do set them up for arthritis later in life, how old is Luna?
Flynn is pretty good, apart from his intermittent limping on his front legs. He can go a while (like days) without doing it, then it will come on again. Usually after he has been resting a while and he first gets up, limp limp across the room until he comes right again. No more episodes of the scary kind since Saturday. He is having doggie dreams on the couch right now ;) I guess my next decision for him is going to be doing the lipomas, he has the big one on his right shoulder, at the front right over the joint which Mike thinks might be responsible for this limping. Not in the next couple of weeks anyway. But then on the other hand if we don't do it, it might never come right
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Luna is just six now, and had the first episode quite young, so I am afraid it is an issue that is maybe congenital and will likely worsen with aging or traumatic re-injury. But right now I am taking your slogan to heart and just being grateful that she seems so much better this morning!
Darn those nasty lipomas! We just found a big lump in Peg's armpit that will have to be checked in a couple of weeks along with her regular phenobarb level, but it feels all soft and pliable like a lipoma. I surely understand why you are leery of anesthesia with Flynn, as I am with Peg, too. But I love our vet and thank goodness you have Mike. At least it helps knowing how careful and concerned they are about our kids!

Haha, positive affirmations sometimes helps keep the demons at bay!! :D She's just a young pup!! :) Sure hope today goes well for her and she is pain free!! Is Peg still behaving gut wise? How often does the phenobarb level need to be checked for her?? She has been seizure free for a long time now? Darn lipoma's, he has had them off twice now over the years, but they keep on coming back. If you can get your fingers around them and they feel mobile that is usually a good sign too, but they can get into the muscle layer which can make them feel harder to move.

Peg is behaving, and thank you for asking about her a while back on her thread. I got distracted and did not reply! She has the phenobarb level and full bloods checked every six months (although she usually gets some extra chem panels thrown in whenever she is barfing or has diarrhea! :o ).

YAY!! Well on that happy note, I am off to bed. Hope it is a surprise free day in your household, I like boring and steady quite nicely thanks very much! :D Night x

Well you have certainly been having exciting times Marianne (NOT!) Glad to hear that Luna is better this morning and Peg continues to do better too.
Good to hear that Flynn man is behaving himself this week. Molly too sometimes does the limpy thing when she first gets up from laying down and then it rights itself. Not the same as what she did before, which was a very definite holding her paw up and not putting weight on it. That doesn't seem to have returned so whew, for that. (see I probably just jinxed us all!!! cross fingers that I didn't)
Have a good day all. HUMP day for us westerners. :)
hugs

Hey Girl,
Hope your weekend has been a good one and Flynny boy is not digging to China:D:D:D:D The other night one of the TV shows was featuring street food stands in a market in China ( not sure which city) They had deep fried scorpions on a stick:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
And people think we have weird fried food on a stick at our state fair!!!;);)
Re: Flynn 11 y/o Foxie Cross - Right adrenalectomy, 3rd Dec 2012 for Pheochromocytoma
Haha, well I bet Flynny would like a deep fried scorpion on a stick Addy... we know he likes sticks after that episode a few weeks back!!:eek:
We are going great thanks girls :D:) He has not had any further episodes but still a bit of limping on those front legs. Other than that a box of birds! x
