Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Since Boriss is a smooshy face he has always snored... I would be lost without that sound in my bed at night. It hums me to sleep like rain.:D
Molly you are a smart little girl. You seemed to have whipped your parents into shape. Just the way you like it. :p
Boriss likes to grumble too. My other dog Pearl likes to growl at Boriss if she is trying to sleep & he is moving around. It is so silly.. She is really really sweet. but, you mess with her when she is tired & she is a grumpy girl. She always gets in trouble for it cause it scares Boriss. But, it really is kinda funny.
Poor Molly... Hopefully it won't get TOO cold. I would hate for her to have to wear a coat. She is just such a ham.. I love her personality.
Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene, thank you so much for your support and posts on Jasper's thread, I appreciate it more than I can say. I laughed so much about Molly grumbling about various things. My Mom has a little shih tzu that does the exact same thing! She does that until she gets her way about whatever it is. My Mom lives in Texas, and sometimes when we are talking on the phone I can hear her dog doing that grumbling, Mom says its because she wants her to get off the phone! It is hilarious.
I also want to let you know that Jasper snores also. He has always done it to some degree, but I do think it has increased over the past few months. I didn't really think too much about it, but now I wonder if it might be related to the issues with his nose now. Hmm... I am going to try to not worry about that.
As far as your weather, it was 50 degrees here on Friday, and yesterday and today in the teens and 20's with wind chills in the negative. So it has felt brutally cold even though it has been sunny. Hope that is not what is heading your way!
Hugs,
Tina and Jasper
PS your title now says Moderator, I think that is new, right? Is that a promotion? :D I noticed it for Addy also, wonder if that is new for her too.
Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
That is it exactly Tina! They make a sort of, not a real growl, but more like a urr urr ..... urr urrr noise in their throats. Smarty pants dogs. :D
Oh, good catch! Yea, it's a brand new thing for me and Addy. Can you believe they left the side door open like that and we sneaked in! :p
They said we can stay and we've agreed not to break any of the china. ;)
Aww., we love you and Jasper and Shelby! Worry like the dickens if we don't hear anything from you for too long.
oh dear, that dog is in my shoes again. I gave her carrots for the first time. As long as we share, she seems to be okay with it. Although makes a bit of a mess.
They didn't have any green beans (i went late to the store) so I grabbed some wax beans, but that she is not fond of. I cut it into a small bite size, and even ate a piece myself, but all she did was crunch it, spit it out and then play with it. Maybe I need to cook them or something. Not sure, but I can try.
Now I need to figure out what fruit she can have. She does love bananas.
I think that is the cold stuff that is heading our way. :( Addy had ice this morning, yesterday she had flowers trying to poke through. :( Big Ughhh!
Hugs,
Sharlene and Molly Muffin

Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
LOL!!!!!!! oh goodness my girls have behavior "issues" when I am on phone....Shaddix paws, and head butts me and tries to roll her nose under my arms and hands, Shysie is ohhhhhh good mom is distracted i am gonna investigate forbidden areas. or maybe she is thinking GASP is she seriously not giving me 100% attention right now..........fine......i will be naughty. lol.
shysie LOVES her little coats. Course long story but she has often had to wear little sweater or coat from when she was super super tiny and we lived in Kansas. What is cute is when it is a girly blingy oh so sweet innocent type coat and then she acts all beasty bad be afraid be very afraid to things. Its like a care bear gone bad type image. lol
Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Oh I love that visual of Shysie! Girlie and ferocious!
Sounds like yours a hand full when you're on the phone. Molly takes times when either I'm trying to read (which usually involves a nap) or I'm on the computer to come over and huff and puff at me till she gets my attention and then grabs a toy. I cannot resist her with a toy and she Knows it!

Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
I have a very strong theory in regards to names, that similar personality traits run in names. Think about it, how many people do you know with the same name? Are they similar at all? I find when I meet someone with a particular name, as time goes by I end up thinking "yep, typical" e.g.. I have never met a Michael I didn't like! (and I know LOTS of Michaels - 5 in my family alone)
Anyway, point is, my sister had a dog named Molly. She was a bossy little thing too who had a number of personality "quirks" shall we say. When she stamped her little foot (she was a shitzu/west highland terrier mix) everyone had to jump to her command. If you didn't, she would let you know in no uncertain terms that you were in the proverbial dog house. Everything was done on molly's time, and if you think you were going to get a sunday without a car ride, walk and a trip to see friends, think again. She was the boss, even when my other sister's dog Sally came 'round (a lab/red cloud kelpie mix), Molly would still be boss, she'd just rule from afar and let the "big dog" do all the work. She never had a growl on her, didn't bark or anything. In fact, if other dog's barked near her, she would nip their heels and tell them off. She also had this habit of "smiling" we used to call it. If a dog hassled her and she couldn't be bothered, she would curl the corner of her lip and show one k9 tooth. That was all, no aggression or movements other than that (she wsa usually just sitting in one spot), then she would turn her head and move on. But she got her message across every time and no one dared challenge it! Ever!
She got to the point where she began to slim down as she got older (she was always a round barrel) and would ask to wear her t-shirt all the time. Eventually when we took it off in the summer months and it was too hot, she looked naked! Molly passed on 3 years ago aged 15, but I'm sure she's up there trying to rule the roost as pack matriarch.
So what is it about the name "Molly" I wonder. Just some random thoughts, but your Molly's antics bought back the memories. Thanks for that!

Talk about bossy dogs that run the house. Our Molly could give lessons!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Re: Molly, 9 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Our South African Mastiff at work grumbles at me when he wants his piece of kibble treat. He used to grumble so loudly (and he is huge) so if I was on the phone, his face was almost ear level while I sat at my desk:rolleyes: So I taught him to touch my left hand when he wanted a treat. Now he comes in my office and constantly is touching my left hand and when he doesnt get his way, he lays on the floor with a case of the grumbles that usually starts me laughing go hard, I give in.
Who trained who?
