I am so relieved that she is awake now and has taken some nourishment. ~~whew~~ Given a bit more time I bet she will be back on her feet, too. Thank goodness they didn't give her any more of the acepromazine!

Honey, you go take a nice long soak in a hot bubble bath; take the phone with you, a glass of that wine, and a good book if you're inclined. Take a little while to relax yourself, then get some sleep. Loving spirits surround you and LucyGoo, softly singing and praying, lending you their strength and hope. Neither of you will be alone for one second.

Gina,

Lucy has already proven she is a big time fighter. These dogs are just so tough. Personally, I don't see the reason to make Lucy endure an MRI too soon but maybe they have one. I hope they take it a little easy on the meds and just let her heal. And I hope you can get some rest and some sleep...goodness gracious you and Lucy have been through alot. I believe Lucy is going to come out of this just fine. She ain't even thinking about giving up so don't you even give it a thought either. A great football coach (Vince Lombardi) said, "fatigue makes cowards of us all." You are very, very tired physically, mentally and emotionally. Lucy's gonna be fine.

Y'know, although you'd think the acepromazine would have worn off by now, it really sounds like that could be the cause of this "setback" ...

For what it's worth, one of my dogs was given "ace" before an ultrasound exam (I'm not sure why, because he didn't really need to be sedated for ultrasounds) and he seemed fine until about an hour after we got back home. He then started to walk as if he was drunk and finally just fell over and couldn't get up. I called the Vet clinic in a panic and they said this could happen (would have been nice if they'd told me in advance that this could maybe happen, which they hadn't) with some dogs ... and that the full effect of the ace could take a while to show up and then take longer than usual to wear off.

I remember that he stayed "sedated" like that until the next day, and even then, it wore off very slowly.

My dog that this happened to was a strong, healthy dog, and he hadn't just had major surgery like your Lucy, so I'd say the "ace" could definitely be the culprit.

Please keep updating us as often as you can. We're pulling for your Lucy, big time and hoping that this is just a bump on the road to recovery.

Add my sigh to the piles and piles of them! It sounds much better,Gina! And really, you do need to take care of YOU and get some rest now...as best as you can, anyway. You'll do neither of you any good being an exhausted mom...and Lucy is in good hands with lots of strength and love surrounding her. And you have that too. So please, get some sleep, do whatever it is you do for yourself to unwind and relax a little. It is so hard to do, I know, but something you need to make time for now.

We'll be here waiting whenever you have a chance to get back to us. And Lucy will be just fine and need a rested mom for when she comes back home for good!

Thank god. You dont know me but I have been following your story. I walked around worrying about you and lucy. As soon as I came home from work I checked on buster and ran to the computer. She just needs rest and so do you. Easier said than done. I know me and that would probably be the last thing I would do but at least close your eyes. I think all our prayers and thoughts were heard.

I second Debbie's sentiment! I had some dufus in my office for the last two hours and I was getting really fidgety cuz I couldn't check to see how Lucy is doing. What a relief that she is a lot better than she was earlier. Whew! Prayers being said at our house. We also have two sets of fingers, two sets of toes and 36 paws crossed for Lucy.
