hope molly will be her old self after a good night sleep!
How is miss Molly today, hoping that it was just an off day yesterday and she is back to letting the neighbours she is there :D
I think it was an off day yesterday. She seemed fine this morning and last night, she had this spurt of energy with her toy bunny, ran in and pounced on it, (first move that fast all day long) and played a bit with hubby on the floor then walked away from him and her toy and went to take a nap. Go figure, just left them both laying on the floor.
She was good on her walk this morning so taking that as a positive sign. I think she is a bit more lazy over all on the melatonin so maybe it is that, although I thought she had adjusted to it, so not sure.
Her poops are fine, good even, and as that is usually one of the first signs if something is going off in her, I'll just hope this is nothing.
You know how she always sucks her tail before bed and cleans her paws of course. She hasn't been tail sucking since starting the lignans and melatonin. She does still clean her paws, but then a girl must have some standards. I wonder if the tail sucking was anxiety related behavior and the melatonin might be helping with that. Just something I noticed when brushing her tail yesterday. I didn't have to try and clear out saliva induced knots. This is a behavior she has had since she was less than a year old.
She is back to snoozing now, but that is to be expected after breakfast. :) I'll update at the end of the day and let you know how she is acting.
hugs all,

Good news on Molly. Em it may well have been an anxiety thing with the tail sucking but yes a girls must have clean feet and nails :D
Very encouraging news on our Miss Muffin. Leaving the boys high and dry, sounds just about her style. ;)
That sucking tail observation is interesting.
Hugs,
Hi all,
So now I am going to try the sam-e meds at night before she goes to bed. It's just not working trying to find that time during the day or morning.
Molly is getting so many pills now all wrapped with wet food around them to cover up the pill that molly now thinks she is getting a treat every time a pill bottle rattles. I think she is putting on weight as she is getting all these 'treats' all the time now.
You know I thought that she had adjusted fine to the melatonine, but I think the lack of energy with her is after she has had her melatonine pill and then it takes awhile to wear off, hours and during that time she is just less than interested in anything going around her. I notice that after about 7 hours or 8, she seems to perk up a bit. I don't know, maybe it's my imagination, but she just doesn't seem her normal perky self since starting the melatonine. I'm doing 3mg morning, 3mg night. That is the only change I can think of that would be affecting her, unless it is something internal. Since she perks up a bit in the late afternoon I'm thinking it's the melatonine.
Well, we are going to have a wedding in our family too. Step daughter just got engaged while on their European trip. She sent a text from Morocco, and is very happy.
It's going to be a busy few weeks coming up, as we have a bbq/pool party in 2 weeks, then we have grandson and his mom home for the next weekend, then the company big party at hour house (which by the way, hubby has told me he has hired a band for!! That man knows how to throw a party!) I still have to get the food stuff organized for that, since the social committee isn't really doing it and our caterer is away until next week so we'll see what happens then. I think the mexican is out and beats me what is in, waiting on the proposals to be sent next week.
Today was a non day, as I woke up with a major headache, so bad my vision was all blurry trying to do work this morning. As soon as I could I took a sinus pill and headed for the couch to lay down for a bit, and then back to work but I've felt sort of fuzzy all afternoon now. Anti histamines Always do that to me. Make me feel loopy.
I'll have to get it in gear though, no time for headaches and being out of commission. I seem to have appointments all over my calendar for this that and the other these days. So, if I miss any of your threads, I'm sorry and really things will calm down at some point I'm sure. I'll try to keep up though!!
hugs to all,
Sharlene and molly muffin
Oh no Sharlene, headaches will not do. I have enough migraines for the both of us!:o I hope you are feeling better now.
Maybe 3 mg twice a day of melatonin is too much? She is only a little dog. I take melatonin occasionally when I'm really keyed up at bedtime and have to go to work the next day. I only take 5 mg myself and it knocks me on my butt. Just thinking.
You are the party girl aren't you? What fun! I love to live vicariously through you.;):D xxxxx
hmm, I went with the dosage as given on the university of tenn site for atypical cushings and <30lbs. I did see someone else say their dog about the same weight maybe a tad more than molly is on 1.5mg am/pm. Maybe i should try splitting the pill? they say you need to give every 12 hours basically.
LOL My headaches are generally sinus/barometric pressure, weather related, but they can be doozies. My mom got migraines and those are just horrendously bad. Mine was pretty bad today but I don't think it even comes close to what those with migraines go through.
We do have our moments it's true. Some times it's very quiet and our most energetic activity is to get dressed on the weekend. Then others, it is just stuff going on constantly.
I like it as long as I get quiet time in between. I don't get very happy if too much is going on that affects molly though and these some of them at least will, she'll have to go the kennel so she doesn't over stress with too many people in the house and I don't like that. In fact, I cancelled a jaunt up to Ottawa for the weekend of the 16th because I couldn't stand to put molly in a kennel that often with the other things coming up and that is how I ended up saying, lets have some peeps over for a bbq here instead. These are molly people, so she will be fine with them. They are her buds too. She'll only have to go in if the stepdaughters insist on a kids party at our house while grandson is here, then I'd put in while that is going on, but if it doesn't happen then she'll be at home with all of us. She is fine with our grandson, but not with a bunch of kids running around being all crazy and playing having fun, she'd get way too worked up and I'd have to watch her every minute for her not to nip anyone or get stepped on or something.
Gads, I'm stressing just thinking about it! I don't know how other people do it and maintain calm and organization and safety.
lol

I'm thinking I'd like to go to a party at your house! Band. Caterers. You mean business. Lol. No more headaches! Have fun planning. Glad you found my Instagram. I posted you tube videos so you can see little man there too! Take care. Glad to hear Molly is enjoying her "treats".
My gut feeling tells me that Molly is getting too much melatonin if she's that out of it. I would personally try splitting the pill for a while and see if she is more alert. Hopefully others will pop in with their thoughts on this. There maybe a medical reason for the higher dosage.
I don't know how you keep up with your social calendar!:eek:
