Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
I'm so glad Molly is adjusting to the meds. As for the party- we all want to come to one of your parties!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I had to stop gardening because of these huge mosquitos. They say it is a different breed this year from all the constant rain. At least Koko's Furfume seems to help when we walk but not sure it will help in the garden.
I cant wait to hear the menu for the party!!!
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
There seems to be some discord on the menu, with the social committee thinking mexican, picked up from a local chain restaurant and set out on tables, with the hubster thinking he wants someone serving and is thinking a bbq catering place, they bring it all to where you are.
This is the work summer party for staff, so since we are a small office here in Toronto, should be around 50 or so people.
Molly will go to the kennel that morning, as she doesn't do well with parties and that many unknown people. She'd stress and likely take a chunk out of someone if they touched her without an invite. So, best for her to go stay there and I'll pick her up the next morning.
She is doing pretty well, but it does take a while to know if this will work or won't work on her.
Oh man those big mosquitoes do not sound that great. I don't think I've seen any huge ones up here, but we sure do have the smaller ones around. I've tried to find anything with standing water on our proper and eradicate it, but they might be coming from the neighbors rain barrel area, where they collect the rain water for the garden. We siphon our rain water collection or extra from drip lines through hose directly into the garden, so there shouldn't be any standing.
well off to the garden center soonish. I used a different center for 3 patio containers this year and I'll never do that again. Each one is straggly while the ones from my normal garden centers look great and I don't need to replace them.
Molly will likely help out as soon as she wakes up from her snooze.

I hope the lignans and melatonin do the trick for Molly and you start to see some improvement in those numbers in a couple more months. I'm glad she's adjusting to the melatonin ok....most pups seem to do so fairly quickly.
As for the menu, I vote lobster. :p
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
The Mexican restaurant near my office makes to die for Spinach soup. It is a clear broth with wilted spinach and packs a kick that knocks you around the block!!!! LOVE IT. add in some pulled beef tostadas ---YUMMY GOOD- I vote for Mexican- :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
50 people at the pool is a hefty number:):):):):) I can understand Molly not wanting to deal with that. Kudos to you for handling that many people at your house. I don't think could do it anymore. I used to love the commotion!!
I found a new hotel to take Koko too. Hubby is calling tomorrow to see if a room is available. He can't go into the restaurant, but we can order room service and eat dinner on the balcony:

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
oh yum, no lobster and the spinach soup would probably be very good!
I'm letting the gang in charge of food argue it out. My only critieria is that they don't leave a mess for me to clean up, or they'll be looking for new digs for the next party.
We've had that size of party for the last 3 years for one reason or another it seems. I always take molly to the kennel for an over night on those days.
Little miss is currently laying on her rug and periodiacally attacking it, then rolling over on her back and grooving is the only way to describe it. She seems to be feeling pretty perky these days, in fact I'd say most of the time when she isn't napping, so that is very good and I'm glad to see it. She has always had her trouble making days, where she just is a typical molly but then she'd have off days too. Right now she seems to be having more perky than off, although that just might be a normal cycle.
We're staying on the positive though, as that is what I find helps us both the most. If I am positive and playful with her, she responds to that pretty well.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi all,
Molly is still doing well. I started her on Dasuquin for her joints today. She was taking Cosuquin but thought I'd give this one a shot. They actually seem to be doing okay. She'll jump on the couch, absolutely will run if you try to pick her up and She doesn't want it, but she doesn't want to go upstairs at night. She jumps up 2 steps, stops on the landing before the long one and puts her foot up waiting for her Lift. Oh she'll go if she absolutely Has to, but her preference is a carry up. She's funny, some things she wants to do herself and some things she doesn't.
She makes it very hard though to determine if there is any kind of muscle wastage when she has the hip on one side and the knee on the other, a back that we have to always keep an eye on and cortisol and sex hormone issues. Hoping the lignans (HDR) and melatonin will help with at least one of those and then depending on what the next ACTH shows, we might add in one of the other cushing meds, but she has to be on this for a steady time to see what the results will end up being.
Good times, eh. :) It's cool here, it was sweltering early this week, with bad humidity and very warm, and now today the wind turned and it cooled right down so I needed a jacket to go outside. Molly of course was prancing around as she loves that summer cool weather. (who doesn't, duh) :)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
So glad that Miss Muffin continues to do well. :p It is hard to determine if there is actually a problem or they just want us to do something for them. They are sneaky little buggers and we fall for their tricks every time.;)But..... We love them to death! :D xxxxx

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Spinach soup??? I will have to take your word on that being tasty as it does not sound it to me LOL :D I will take the lobster mmmmmm! I remember when Mum and Dad had a pool and no one was swimming much and Dad complaining that with the cost of the upkeep it was about 50 bucks per swim :D:D The pool got filled in not long after that!!
Hope Molly still doing just fine on all the new meds! xxxx
