Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
I hadn't thought of the camera - good idea, although I'm not sure I'd be able to get a good picture if they drive off as quickly as they did today, but it might deter them from coming back. I'm hoping I already scared them off, by going out today, although I would prefer to get something from the police which guarantees they won't be back.
I don't think I've seen the car around but it was just a small white SUV so nothing particularly distinctive / noticeable, apart from the fact that it was very clean and shiny.
The interesting thing is that I put a car on the drive when they were there at lunchtime, and it was still there when they backed up on to our drive, so they should have worked out that I was in the house.....

Could be bill collector. Skip trace. Repo people. Trying to think of possible options. Sounds like maybe waiting for someone? Insurance fraud investigators? There are possibilities at least that might not be as scary.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Thank you - it does help, however it's the running the stop sign that makes me think it's more likely to be something illegal.... unless their target arrived home at that point, but the police searched the area within 15 minutes of them driving off, and there was no sign of them. Also that would mean there was only 1 house that they could have been watching (the people living there only moved in last November and I don't know anything about them).
Maybe it's a private detective as one of our neighbours (who I try to avoid!) keeps telling me that a lot of husbands in the area are playing away, although I would not expect them to park on our drive when they knew I was home, as that really draws attention to them. Hmmm - maybe a very poor detective ;)
As you can tell, I have a very vivid imagination ;) ;)
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
LOL Very bad indeed. I don't know, but if your house is the one of interest, then seems weird that they would pull in your drive with the car there. Which makes me think, maybe another house. hmmm, never know with new neighbors. Never know with old one sometimes either.
I swear this is the truth, I lived in Washington state for a few years, nice neighborhood, small town, knew my neighbors, now I didn't hang out with my next door neighbor, but we said, hello, talked across the fence, etc. So, I moved away after 3 years, and one of my other neighbors calls me maybe 6 - 10 months later, and said, you'll never believe it, they had a meth lab in the garage of your next door neighbor. (she lived across the street). I wouldn't have ever suspected, but then I tend to Usually think of the best of people. Police raided it, thank god, that could have blown up at any point, and there were young kids there too. So, you just can't tell sometimes.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Wow - my parents always used to say you never know what goes on behind closed doors!
One of their neighbours worked in a furniture store and used to 'borrow' furniture most weekends (we're talking full dining sets, armchairs, lamps, etc.) - they had a long path from the driveway to the house and we used to see them carrying the furniture in / out. Several years later my Dad got to know the people who owned the furniture store chain and they mentioned they had a few problems with that particular store, but he guessed they had no idea of the true extent of the 'borrowing'.
Well the mystery deepens as I can't think of any reason why we'd be of interest - just a very boring middle aged couple with more than the average number of cars and a super cute puppy dog, so it must be one of the neighbours. If so I don't suppose we'll hear anything from the police, but my imagination might be getting some exercise :D
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
A mystery is always intriguing as long as it doesn't involve ourselves. :)
It doesn't hurt to keep a look out though and if they show up, maybe you can get a picture from the window. Without having to go outside. Not sure that I'd want them to see you Take the picture since there is no way to know what they are up to.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
I have the camera ready just in case they show up tomorrow - if they're on the road I'll be able to get the vehicle from the house, however if they are as close to our garages as they were today I'll have to wait for them to start driving off before I can get the license plate! Our drive is almost 3 car lengths long and they were parked around 1/2 a car length from the garage door - the police were rather surprised when I showed them how close to the house the car had been.
Henry has been out on the patio (at the back) barking at animals in the night, but I haven't stopped him as quickly as I usually would because I want them to think we have lots of big dogs!
and no more Midsomer Murders for a few days ;)
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
hmm, maybe they got close to make someone else think they belonged at your house. hmmm...interesting. LOL
Oh I don't know, there is a lot to be said for a good british murder now. LOL If there wasn't I wouldn't be such a fan of all those books and got my sister hooked on them too. LOL
Okay, off to bed for me! I'll be checking in tomorrow morning though.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sounds like a good detective mystery going on there! Hope they are not watching the neighborhood to see when people leave their homes empty. Maybe it is a private detective checking on a cheating spouse?? Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Well, no sign of the car so far today. OH popped home at lunchtime, and there was another car stopped in a similar place outside, but it was just someone taking a call. We both took Henry for a walk to the mailbox, so we could get a closer look......
So fingers crossed we won't see them again.
