Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
Hi Kathy,
Quick stop by to check that you are ok. Hope Rosie is doing well and welcomes you with bouncing circles when you get home from school. Also hope the first day back goes well and that you have a great term ahead, I'm sure Buddy will be there watching over you. Take care and catch up with you soon.

Kathy:
I laughed so hard about the bra, isn't that the truth!! If you spray a few items like sticks or rocks with bitter apple and leave them outside in Rosie's path it may deter her from wanting to pick things up. I am glad she is getting that collar off, they are such an awful thing for the dog to have to wear. Thank goodness at least they have the soft ones now. Is Rosie eating good now? I bet your parents are spoiling here! Have a good weekend with Rosie. Blessings

Kathy, Thinking of you and Buddy. I can't believe it's been 12 weeks since Buddy and Scoop left us. If only we could hold them again.

Re: Buddy, The Mighty Lizard Hunter (Buddy is Gone - crossing the rainbow bridge)
One of my student's parents sent in a book today for me to read to the class. It was called something like, "I Will Love You always". Anyway, it was a story about a boy who had grown up with his dog/ best friend. They did everything together. As the dog aged and slowed down, she was able to do much less of course. She had put on a lot of weight, she could no longer get up the stairs and had to be carried to bed and she wasn't able to walk very far or very long. The dog finally dies toward the end. The point of the story being that they never really leave you. One of my students has an ill dog at home that is not going to last much longer, so the mom sent the book in with him, so the class could talk about it. I put the book under the overhead projector and started to read the story. It started innocently enough with a baby boy and a puppy. I should have read it through first before I decided to go ahead and share it. I totally fell apart in the middle of the story and had to compose myself to finish it. It was sad and heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. It was something that I was not emotionally ready to do.:o Shortly after I finished the story, it was lunchtime and I whisked the kids off to lunch through my tears. I then went back to my classroom and cried my heart out. I thought I was doing pretty well, but I still have a long way to go.:o

Oh gawd, that is awful. How did the kids react? What a sad thing to have to do with all of them :( I bet you will be reviewing books brought it for you to read  Sorry you had to experience that Kathy and I really feel for the little boy whose dog is poorly xx

Kathy:
I really feel for you. Somehow when you started out telling the story of the book, I knew it was going to be bad. Children are so intuitive I am sure they knew you were sad about something. Have you ever shared with them that Buddy passed? I believe since Buddy was so special that it will take a great deal of time, for your heart to heal. I think of you and Buddy often and say a prayer for you both every nite. Blessings

Oh, Kathy, I can only imagine how tough that was. But I believe you probably taught your kids more than you can comprehend about love and loss yesterday. They saw your heart broken, they saw your tears for a pup you love and lost, they saw that it is alright to grieve and to hurt for a pup you love, they saw that even adults can and do love their pups very deeply. You showed them true love - something many kids never see and never have an opportunity to understand.
