Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene
I fig I would venture out and start visiting!Your little Molly stories cracked me up.What a personality!!Gracie is the late sleeper-Fella was up and ready the moment I opened my eyes. When I used to work days,I would need to leave the house very early(6am),so at 530am I would be calling up to Gracie who was snoozing upstairs.I was completely ignored!Much too early for the queen to get up.I had flashbacks of my mother trying her hardest to wake my brother and I up for school before she left for work.Poor little Fella of course was up at the crack of dawn with me,cuddled while I had my coffee and was ready and waiting.I would always say"you don't have to get up with mommy-it's too early" but nope, mom was up,Fella was up.:).
I do love hearing all the stories-from the sounds of it,they certainly have us all well trained!:D.Today was the day I was to go to St John USVI to visit my friend who lives there.Would love to have her job.She works at the animal shelter/hospital there and spends her days loving all the rescues, organizing fundraisers and taking them out on hikes to the beach.I'd love to plan a week there just to volunteer as it sounds like fun!Hope you have a good weekend, hugs to Molly!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Ha a Molly screaming banshee! Sounds like she is pretty fly with all of that scamping about!! I have become a big believer in treating the dog and not the numbers... and in the this case the dog is saying I am good Mumma!! How cute, so love to read these type of reports :)
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
So glad to hear that Molly is much more herself, screaming Banshee and all! :D It is so nice to hear a happy story!:)
Hugs,
Kathy and Buddy

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
You have to laugh don't you? They are such characters at times, so demanding and bossy, but yet so loveable because of it. Give her a cuddle and a kiss from me. (When you catch her again that is :D)
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Dachshunds are particularly bossy.
If I don't move fast enough, Daisy barks once. Then she waits for a bit, and barks again if I still haven't done what she wants.
Little stinkers :)

Sharlene-
As you know I'm away from home and my computer access is not the best, so I've not had time to fully participate in the forum. I brought along an old laptop, but I age 3 years every time it boots up. It is SOOOO slow.
Anyway-I marvel at how you make the time to jump in on so many forums. I love how encouraging and funny you are. You're a ray of sunshine where it is sorely needed! You're a good angel and I just wanted you to know you're appreciated.:D
Love,
Susan

HI Sharlene,
How is little miss Molly doing? Hope all is well. ;)

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Running around with a stuffed toy sounds like a great way to spend part of the day!! Good news that Molly is chipper, wanting to play and seemingly not dealing with any bad infection!!
Maybe by now you have spoken to the vet. Hope all the news is normal and that Molly is still feeling great!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Awww thanks Susan, you're a sweetheart. I guess I just really adore all these wonderful animals and their fabulous people companions (we are here just for them right :) ) Plus knowing how scary I think it is, it's hard to see anyone else go through that and more without a shoulder to lean on. Here we have many wonderfully wide shoulders to share the burden. It's a great group. Love it!
Well, now, no, that Vet still didn't call, I just ran to check voice mail in case, but nope. I'm sure its negative as they are very good about calling right away if there is a problem. That at least I can count on. :) I need to write myself a note so I'll remember during the day to call them. When I'm at work, usually I get busy and forget about calling. I know if I were worried or thought it was positive I'd be all over that phone. LOL
I'm going to set an appointment in my outlook calender right now so it'll beep at me to do it! I'd be so lost without that scheduler.
Hugs is getting the pool opened up and Molly has decided to help him. I do not think he is as appreciative of her efforts as she thinks he should be. She barked at the hose she barked at the salt bags she barked and barked, then she ran around the fence line, stopped and said hello to neighbor next door. (bark bark bark) Tried to follow a squirrel up a tree (what is it with her and trees?!!!!) My neighbor across the street calls her a little scamp. I call her trouble on 4 legs!! LOL Yea, she can't have an infection and act like That!
Thanks for thinking of us!
hugs,
Sharlene and Molly Muffin

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene
Popped in to check Molly's urine result, so I will be back tomorrow for another looksie! Certainly sounds like she is too good for any infection to be bothering here. But you never can tell with these babies, so I would have done as you have and taken in a specimen.
Aww getting the pool ready and here I am constantly sweeping up leaves. Seems like yesterday you were under the snow and I was melting in the heat, how fast the seasons change! Hope you have a good day tomorrow and Molly gets a clear result. We need to get our money's worth from that test  xxx

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene:
Hoping that Molly's urine comes back good. That is cute about her running around the pool. Has she ever gone in the pool? Just curious if she still does it ? We are supposed to get rain for about a week. It is getting dark as I type this. Hope you have sunny weather and enjoy your pool. Blessings

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi gang,
Vet called this morning. Must have heard us talking about her. Anyway, everything is completely negative she said they did a grow for over the 48 hours and still no sign of any type of bacteria, so that is good. She thinks the glucosomine treat caused the strong urine and smell and that the reason for her to have the accident was due to her being in major tail sucking mode and this was an behavior thing because we had been trying to get her to stop.
No Molly is not impressed with the pool She's been in it but only with someone holding on to her and it isn't something she likes at all. I never let her out in the backyard by herself, since she isn't a swimmer and I don't want any accidents.
Okay, got to run, looks like I might be pulling an all nighter working since I got dumped with a project that needs completion by COB tomorrow and it's huge. Plus my regular work still has to be done. Not fun for sure. I will Not be going into the office tomorrow, but do need to do an 8am meeting and then more stuff starting at 9am. Gonna need a vacation at this rate! argghhh.
hugs all

Glad Molly got good news and no obvious sign of infection today. You sound like you have a killer day ahead of you-good luck! Most of the little ones I know aren't all that crazy about the water-fella hated even his little feet getting wet!:).Now Gracie would be doing laps and dives into the pool:D.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Not good re the all nighter, I have to do it if we have incidents but I don't know if I could stay awake and actually write something all night. Do you work in IT as well? Sounds like a bid proposal to me?
So chuffed little miss Molly doesn't have an infection.
Hope you are fast in the land of nod and look forward to seeing you back soon!
Big hug, kisses and belly rubs to Molly

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
LOL Kathy, yep, molly does have her vices and tail sucking is one of her biggies.
Wow, Mel, you're spooky. ROFL Actually a bid proposal was exactly what I had to work on. Funny that is not what most people would automatically think but you nailed it! I'm in Telecom, Porting Coordinator and quality assurance technician best describes my specifics. It's been a long day, so maybe I'll get to call it an early night and do it all over again tomorrow. I am just about spreadsheet to my limit!
hugs all,

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene
Just saw your info on my page-thank you so much for doing all that investigative work! Now,I'm a little concerned that she gave me a script for the easy to find Doxy type, rather than the one that is most effective.I'll have to check with her tomorrow and do a little research on the two types tonight. She wrote for Doxycycline Monohydrate which I found available on my first try at the local pharmacy for 100.00-a little too easy! Now,the OTHER type(forget the name)is the one I'm finding online for much more money.I hope she didn't give me the 2nd best one since it would be easier to find. She obviously doesn't know all of you-nothing is impossible!!:D.Will look more into it tonight-nothing 2nd best for my Grace!:).Thanks again!!:)
-
Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Just give her a call and ask the vet about the two different types and if there is a difference in the two and how they affect treatment for lyme disease. I don't know that it is better or worse than the other one. I'm glad you found it as an option and if it works the same as the other doxycycline, then I'd go for it, but since I've never used either. I really don't know.
hugs,
Sharlene and Molly Muffin

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi
Thanks again-That's funny that Sasha didn't like the wet grass feel on her feet.Usually that's the little ones who hate that!I love all their little quirks and different personalities.Have to go to NY this weekend, but hope you and Molly girl have a good weekend!Btw,I loved the pictures you have posted of Molly-she is beautiful!!My aunt had a lhasa many years ago who lived to be 17!She was adorable but what a terror!:)My aunt loved that dog so much,I think more than her husband. She could never get another after losing her but still speaks of her like it was yesterday.Have a good night and thanks again.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
stopping by to say hello and make sure all is still going good!!!! awesome news about the urine.
do you have the little doggy floaties for when she is in the pool? those little boogey boards are sort of nice to have them assisted float on too.
AND dont you know pool water is messing up her tail she loves so dearly!!!!!!! lol cute little button.

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene
Hope you had a great Mother's day and that Molly is doing well. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.Gracie is overdue for a good romp on the beach with her tennis balls!:).It's awful to see them actually suffering from depression.I don't want her to have to change,I want her to be the silly carefree adolescent that she loves to be!:D.
I went by the neighborhood that I found Fella all those years ago.I so wish I could go back in time and relive those wonderful 10 1/2 yrs again.I was actually hoping and praying that another little one would just appear and I could do it all over again.:).
My gf could not believe Gracie's behaviour change. She said that Fella must have given her a good talking to before he passed. We are so used to scolding her-grace stop stealing all Jelly's toys, grace stop stealing the napkins,Grace, stop eating the plants,Grace get off my friends bed, etc, etc!:).She just sat there quietly and would not go near my friend's dog.Walked all the way around the room the other way just to avoid him-we couldn't fig out what was wrong.I hope things get easier for her as I hate to see her this way.If only she had an online support group herself!:).Hopefully she will have a good romp tomorrow. Thanks again and hugs to Molly girl!

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
hi Patty,
Molly is doing good. Not very happy with us at the moment as she had to stay inside while we were working putting together a pavilion for the back yard and cleaning patio stuff from the winter. Just too many things for her to get into trouble with out there. So she had to stay in and she is currently making everyone know that she is unhappy about it. The little grumble barks at absolutely nothing are coming pretty regular from behind my chair. Even playing with her and belly rubs has not made her forgive us. *sigh*
I'm glad Grace was being herself today. Molly is a shihtzu/llaso mix, so I like to think I got the best of both. hehehe Wow, no prejudice here of course. :)
Hope you have a good weekend. We're having our Victoria Day long weekend, so myself and my husband both took the day off to make it a 4 day long weekend. whooo hooooo :)
hugs,
Sharlene and Molly Muffin

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Sharlene
Oh nice!I love long weekends-enjoy!!Any day not working is a great day!Molly cracks me up-they are too funny! They do have a way of making it known THEY ARE NOT HAPPY WITH US!:D.When Grace was a pup,I used to crate her.Every night, when I put her in,I could hear her huffing and puffing and having a little temper tantrum for herself.I'd hear her little woofs mixed with sighs and I just knew I was hearing dog profanity!:D:D.Funny, without being able to say a word, they certainly make their feelings known!
Well, hopefully you'll be "forgiven" as Molly will have mommy to herself for 4 whole days.Enjoy and thanks again

LOL has a tiny little attitude about not being allowed outside to get into things huh. LOL that is soooooo adorable. Shysie gets very upset with me as well. she will steal items and race under the bed with them. I dont know what it is about being under the bed that makes her think she is monster dog. lol. love every bit of though dont we. lol

Re: Molly, 10 yr, shih tzu - lhasa aspo, cushing diagnosis
Hi Sharlene
He is a little cutie right?:).This foster mom has her own doggie day care business as well and just started fostering a few pups. They look like they are all having a blast!Would love to have a doggie day care and foster a few as well but don't have the space for that.Imagine only having to deal with dogs all day long!
Hope you and little Miss Molly are doing well and she has forgiven you for banishing her to the house while doing yardwork!:D
Thanks again for all your support and checking in as always-Have a great day!
