Our dog, Max, was diagnosed with Cushings about two years ago. He has been on Vetoryl until a week ago when his vet switched him to Trilostane 45 mg. He has become rather lethargic, but I figured that the new medicine was causing some of his problems. This morning he was scheduled to be groomed. When we returned from the groomer's he was antsy and he drank a lot of water. Next thing I knew he was upchucking his entire breakfast. I recently began giving him a combination of food to get him on another food for dogs 7 - 10 years of age. We have had no other incidents of illness with the new med or the new food until today. Could the excitement of the groomer's have caused some of his problem?

Hello and welcome from me, too!

Since no combination of Vetoryl capsules will total 45 mg., I am assuming the shift to compounded trilostane was due to the need for a dosing change for Max? Can you tell us whether his medication has been increased or decreased, and was this result of an ACTH stim test?

Has Max required other dosing changes during the past two years? It will help us greatly if you can tell us more about Max's history on Vetoryl -- what his dosing has been, and also the results of any ACTH monitoring tests performed along the way. Have his Cushing's symptoms been well controlled during this time?

I apologize for all the additional questions, but this info is important in order for us to get the "big picture" in terms of Max's treatment. And as far as the food change, how long ago did you make that shift?

Thanks so much in advance for this information,
Marianne
