this poem has helped me no end over the last 2 sad and lonely weeks xx

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Oh, thank you so much for posting this for all to see and share. For me, Rainbow Bridge is a hope, a wish, a prayer, and a comfort. When I read these lines, my mind's eye is filled with the vision of sweet reunion, forever and always.

I know these early days of separation are especially hard. And there will never be a day that goes by when you do not yearn to hold your loved one again. That is, not until the day comes when the promise of Rainbow Bridge is fulfilled. And then we shall all be at peace at last.

Sending many, many hugs ~ our babies are always in loving memory and always so safe in our hearts.

Between the poem and Marianne's words I have tears in my eyes--happy and sad at the same time.:o

I miss the simpler days with my Maddie because of the challenges with Ella at this young age--we too will get there, but Maddie will always have her own special place in my heart.:o:)

Bless the Norse Legend for inspiring The Rainbow Bridge....:)

For me too the Rainbow Bridge is "a hope, a wish, a prayer and a comfort". There are 8 waiting for me right now....oh how I'm going to love having them all in one place at the same time. One is still with me.....
The days get better.....that's a promise and a comfort. Please take good care of yourself at this time.
