Checking in" is a topic that we start on the first of each month. We suspect that we have a good number of members who read the messages regularly but who don't post very often. Maybe that's because their dogs are doing well, or they don't have a Cushing's dog anymore, or they haven't got any questions to ask, or maybe they don't feel very comfortable about posting answers to other members' questions. It's perfectly understandable and acceptable for folks to only post once in a while, but when we don't hear from people, many of us find ourselves wondering what those folks have been up to recently and how their dogs are doing.

It's always preferable to post updates about your Cushing's dog in your own thread/topic (especially if you want feedback/replies from other members) but you can also post a quick reply here if you just want to say hi and let everyone know how you are doing in general.

We'd love to hear from you! :)

Well Bagel and I are checking in....
My sweet beagle/bassett is going on 11.5 yrs..been a Cush pup since March of 09. Diagnosed diabetic in the fall of 09 as well..

We had a GREAT summer. She has never regulated with her BGs for diabetes- but she averages in the mid 200s and we are good..

She takes 1500 mg of Lysodren per week and has 2 shots of Humulin N daily. Her appetite is great and I add some canned chicken to her prescription royal canin for diabetic dogs...

every day this summer we went out in the dog buggy...it was the highlight of our day!! Now that school is back in, we have to save it for weekends and some weekday afternoons when the temps are cool.

I am thankful for every day with her and for the two forums: diabetes and cushings!
Best to All,
Sande

Hello I am new to the group, my mini dachshund Shelby was just diagnosed to be Cushings yesterday after the testing was finished for her. She turned 8 a week ago and had been tested on and off all year for urinary infection and given clavamox as treatment.

Last week she was tested for it with urine test but was almost dilute so they ran the other tests that confirmed Cushings.

I need all help I can from this great group especially when starting with treatments, hers is the Pituitary type of it. Very nervous as so many have been when this happens. Bernadette

Hi all,

Haven't been to this site in a while. Just too hard for now. Max's death has been so hard for me and when I come to this site all I can do is cry. I hope that everyone and their babies are doing good. Please cherish them.

I will never forget the kindness I have been shown through this site.

Missing my Max,
Beverly
