Hi ya'll,

I've mentioned before about Squirt's exceptional hair growth, especially her undercoats, since being on melatonin. Her nails are also unbelievable! They have become very thick and grow at an astonishing rate. I can clip off 1/8-3/16", file them and two weeks later they have grown 1/4" back! Her vet and groomer have never seen anything like it.

I am wondering if the melatonin is effecting the nails? Have any others who use melatonin noticed any of this with their babies?

Any other ideas? Particularly about the nails?

Hugs,
Leslie

Hi Leslie,

I don't know if the Melatonin would affect the nails. It seems that Corky's nails also started growing in the same way as Squirt's. I was having his nails cut at the vet's, but it got too expensive. I now cut them, but I don't do them all at one time. I do a few each day.

Leslie, hair and nails are the same tissues.

And melatonin does affect them greatly.

That's what I keep coming back to, Scott, the make-up of both. Makes sense if the melatonin has had such a drastic effect on her coat, then it could on her nails as well.

Great minds, huh? ;)
