Hey Guys, I havent been on here in a while. I have had a lot going on and recenty moved accross the country. To refresh I have an 8 year old husky named osa w/ atypical cushings..I will give a full update soon - but I was wondering if someone had a link to that doctors site that talks baout diets and lists good dog food brands. I have had osa on the Wellness Core and I heard that they were adding some new things to the food..has anyone heard this?

Thanks

What specifically are you looking for? I mean is your pup prone to pancreatitis, IBD...does your pup need a low fat or moderate protein dog food?

Well, the core diet that I have her on now it high protein/low fat. She used to be on a perscription diet b/c she is prone to kidney stones/UTI..but since her water intake is so high - I havent really had to worry about the stones/uti's.. I would liek to keep her on a good grain free, high protein/low fat I guess.

I'm using EVO canned to add to the dry food. The dogs looooove it! BUT, we are having an intestinal gas issue with the puppy so I am not sure what is what right now....I don't think it is the food...more like her....but my boyfriend also has been using it and his dog is having the same issue...so I am in a wait and see mode. If it is that, I'll be switching and will probably trial another food to see.

One positive is that none of it is made in China...and my other dog is fine on it....

Hope this helps a little anyway!!!! I know I am not too committal right now....Beth

EVO is a great food. The one other thing I really like about it is that it's grain-free. My 1st Cushpup, Barkley, was on it from the time he was diagnosed with lymphoma as the oncologist wanted him on a high protein, low carb & fat diet, since carbs/fat fuel cancer. Right now, to keep my picky eater, Harley, eating, I have been feeding Primal raw for about 6 months. It is high protein, low fat, grain free, veggies, & a little organ meat in the mixture. Both of my dogs are doing pretty well on it. Harley is just a picky eater & is going to go through streaks of not eating anything I put down which is what he is trying to do with the Primal right now. I swear the dog would stick his nose up at Filet Mignon.

Hi Todd,

Since many dogs with Cushing's syndrome are prone to developing calcium-containing urinary stones, like your Osa, some studies suggest to avoid supplementation with Vitamin C, many of the good quality dog food brands have added Vitamin C...please read the pet food labels.

Here's a link to one such study:
