Hi All,

I haven't posted about the Munch for quite some time but I'm feeling an overwhelming need to post now.

Munchie has had another specialist added to his ever growing list of doctors. This time, it's a dental specialist and I'm sure glad I took him. The GP vet that looked in his mouth last said his teeth were fine. His IMS took a peek and said other than discoloration his teeth looked fine - just brush them regularly. Ha! So much for his teeth being fine.

Although his teeth may have looked ok on the outside, the dental specialist took radiographs so Munch had a full mouth x-ray. He had 2 teeth in the back that were dead and one had absessed. That is why he had alligator breath and the Flagyl he was given previously was only a temporary fix. The two teeth were removed today and he also had a gingivectomy. His gums had grown down over some of his teeth and had to be cut away.

Now comes the really scary part. The dentist also found two suspiscious small growths on his gums, one of which he is concerned is a melanoma. So now I'm playing the waiting game as they are being biopsied.

He's on Tramadol for pain and a mega dose of Clavamox. A lesser dose of Clavamox gave him a horrible case of the poops last year so he's also on Flagyl to take care of what the Clavamox does to him. Poor guy was whimpering and crying until that Tramadol kicked in. He wasn't in this kind of pain when his eye was removed. The whole dental thing was a real ordeal for him. And as for me, I'm exhausted but am watching him like a hawk. I have never seen him feel this badly with any other surgery he's had.

Could sure use some prayers that those two ??? taken from his gums are benign.

Louise,
I am so sorry to hear Munch is having mouth problems. I have everything crossed those lumps are benign. Even though his mouth will be sore he will feel a lot better now that those bad teeth are gone.

Oh Louise,

So sorry too about Munchie and his mouth, we are also praying and keeping all fingers, toes, paws, and tails crossed that those ??? are benign.

Poor Munchie and poor you...that waiting game is the pits...as you know, we love you both and we are here for you and Munchie too.

I hope the Flagyl offsets the Clavamox for Munchie and you receive no horrible poops.

Please let us know how you and Munchie are doing.

Sending tons of praying and healing thoughts for Munchie.

Love and hugs.

Thank you for all the prayers and hugs everybody. I'm feeling really down in the dumps today....the aftershock from yesterday has hit. Was able to get Munch to eat some food out of my hand last night so he could take all his pills. So far, so good. He wanted to eat this morning and is feeling much better. No Clavamox poop disaster so far and although having those teeth removed may have caused him some temporary pain, getting them out of his mouth along with the infection has got to make him feel a whole lot better plus I know it's a plus for the rest of his body/organs.

Pardon me if I ramble on for a bit folks. Haven't done this in awhile. :D I am praying so hard that he does not have oral cancer. I need to do my homework and research this just in case it's something I need to discuss with the doctor after the biopsy. I don't want to be in that "ignorance" place like I was about Cushings. I'm just not quite ready to go there and start any research yet. If I let even the smallest thought of "c" creep into my head right now I don't think I can function. Talking to myself out loud...Poor Munch just can't seem to get a break. On the positive side he's well loved and well taken care of and doing ok today and that's what counts!

Thanks again everybody.

Hugs,
Louise

Hi Louise,

So sorry that you are feeling really down today, but that is understandable...the waiting and not knowing can drive one crazy and miserable. I wish there were words I could say that would bring you at ease...but know we are here...we love you...our arms are all wrapped around you...hopefully this is bringing you some comfort.

We have to think positive, tho...right? Munchie is eating good and his poops are good. Excellent! And like you mentioned, he is very loved and very well taken cared of, I don't know of any furbabies that get their special meals made by their moms out of a blender, and all the specialist he has, you have made sure he has the best doctors/treatment available. So we are going to keep praying like mad and thinking positive thoughts.

Love and hugs to you and Munchie.

Hi Louise,

Prayers & healing thoughts from me, too. It's amazing how much more a dental specialist can find... hoping what he found is benign.

Louise, being the world-class fretter that I am, I'm afraid I'm right in the thick of it -- worrying right alongside you. I surely do understand why this feels like a really rough day for you. But just as Lori has pointed out, there are truly reasons for positive thoughts. So I hope you will be able to hold onto them, as well as the healing energy that is being rushed Munchie's way from his entire family here!

Here's hoping that tomorrow will be a bit easier, and here's especially hoping that those benign biopsy results come in SOON!

Continuing (((hugs))) to you and the Munch-Man,

Hi Louise,

I don't have constant computer access right now like I usually do but I have had you and Munchie on my mind even tho I haven't posted.

You and Munchie have already been through so much it wouldn't be fair if either of you have to face more...so I am gonna believe these are a benign growths and nothing to worry about. Getting those bad teeth out will make him feel so much better in no time! Wouldn't it be wonderful if some of his digestive issues were related to the teeth?!?!

Louise, you know you aren't alone no matter what the results tomorrow. And you ain't alone with the worry til then either. Like Marianne, I got my worry wart face going on just for you and Munchie. You have had and will continue to have prayers from me and mine for you and yours.

Hugs,
Leslie and the girls

Susy, you are so right!!!

Thanks everyone for your continued support. A staff member from the dental specialist called today to check up on Munchie. They will have the biopsy results in 3 to 5 working days and he will call me then. So....could be the end of this week or sometime next week. I'll be glad to know one way or the other and then I'll take it from there!

Munch is recovering nicely from the procedure and his mouth doesn't appear to be bothering him. I've got to "bite the bullet" today and take a peek at his gums and mouth. I can be such a lily-livered chicken at times!!!

Louise, I admit that I am also a chicken.... plus sometimes I like to be in denial because it is just plain easier! :D My Annie has hardly any teeth left at all and it scares me to open her mouth because I am afraid as well... I will keep toes and fingers crossed for you and say some heathen prayers. Big hugs, Kim

Louise,

I know this had to be the best news you've gotten in a long time. I am so happy to hear that the results were benign. I know what it feels like to have those pins and needles poking you in the butt, not to mention the anxiety that just about does you in, while you are waiting, waiting and waiting. Now you can settle in and enjoy your weekend....oh wait, I forgot, every day is a weekend for you retired folks. :D:D:D

Yipee!!!!!!

Oh I am so happy to hear this and I know you are out of your head with joy!! :D What a relief!

Now I'm anxious to see if those bad teeth and the infection may not be a big part of his problems over-all. I'm hoping you start to see a new man coming out in Munchie, some of those whacky numbers settling down, a mystery or two solved....but most important for today - NO NEW NIGHTMARE!!!!!! This is such good news, Louise! I'm dancing the Crazy Lady Happy Dance for you and the Munchster! :D:D:D:D

We're doing ok Lori. I did take a look inside his mouth and it appears ok. Had to put all his toys up and keep him separated from the kitties until next Monday. He isn't supposed to be chewing anything...including his kitties. Poor guy really misses his play buddies!

Now, now Scott. It's true he was almost a jailbird at one time but that's not why I named him Munchie! It was just fate that the name became appropriate in his adulthood for other reasons. :D

Everything except the 2 teeth. :D I was truly afraid I was going to see some kind of Frankenstein mouth with stitches or something that I'd rather not see, but didn't happen (ahhhh...sigh of relief!)

Hi Louise,
Glad the Munch man is doing better. I do believe I met his brother today. Mom wanted a shave down including face. He was not too happy,...... well,...... he wanted to chew my face off. Didn't give him the chance but I immediately thought of your little Munch man. Made me smile.:) In the end, I did manage to win him over :D but it took 3 hours :(

Afterwards they told me they usually have to pay the grooming shop an extra 10 dollars bc it took 2 people to groom him. Wanted to know how I did it? Patience and kindness! ;):) (and 3 hours)
