    Welcome to the k9cushings forums!

Welcome, everyone, to the k9cushings forums. We're so glad that you found us!

It can be very frightening to hear your vet say that your dog has Cushing's, but we're here to tell you that with proper diagnosis and treatment, most Cushing’s dogs can live out their normal lifespan with an excellent quality of life. We'll do our best to help you to find the information that you need so that you can understand the condition better and become a well informed advocate for your dog. We’re also pretty good at hand-holding!

Staff members of this group are not veterinary professionals but rather aspire to be effective educators. We have all had extensive personal experience with our own cushingoid dog(s) and are here paying it forward. In addition to our personal experience, we maintain an extensive library of science-based resources that are updated as new developments occur. Staffers often communicate directly with drug and over the counter supplement manufacturers as well as compounding pharmacies to provide members with the best possible information. We also do our best to contact renowned and well published expert endocrinologists and internal medicine specialists when questions outside our realm may arise. While staffers post independently, they quite frequently brainstorm behind the scenes and formulate coordinated responses that are always supported by credible references. It is our goal to educate members so that they can become more excellent advocates for their dogs and work with their vet as a proactive participant in their dogs’ care and treatment. Any feedback provided to members is not to be construed as a substitute for the advice of a veterinary professional. However, if according to facts presented by members we feel a vet has breached protocol or has conducted themselves in an unprofessional and/or unethical manner, we will not turn a blind eye and will share our educated opinion with members as well as provide them with pertinent, credible references in support of those opinions. It’s all about the dogs in this group, and that’s why we strongly value education and advocacy in addition to moral support.

If you don't already have a thread/topic, please start one in our Canine Cushing's Questions and Discussions Forum where we can talk with you about your dog.
