    Default A Parting Prayer

A friend sent this to me. Forgive me if it has been posted before. I read it today and thought of all our beloved friends that have passed.

    A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
    and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
    across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign him to a place of honor,
for he has been a faithful servant
and has always done his best to please me.

Bless the hands that send him to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing him from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of his life
with the love he has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor him
by sharing those memories with others.

Let him remember me as well
and let him know that I will always love him.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow him to accompany those
    who will bring me home.

    Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of his companionship
and for the time we've had together.

    And thank you, Lord,
    for granting me the strength
to give him to you now.

    Amen.

Christy, this entire prayer brings tears to my eyes. And this paragraph, especially, seems like a blessing upon our "In Loving Memory" forum.

Thank you so much for sharing.

    Oh Christy,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful prayer. Made my eyes tear thinking about our Chainee, Bailee, Roxee and so many other cush angels that have passed and we feel we know so well.

    Oh Christy,

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful prayer with us. From the start I knew it was going to be very touching but this part:

    Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of his companionship
and for the time we've had together.

    And thank you, Lord,
    for granting me the strength
to give him to you now.
Really seemed to speak volumes to me and when I read this, the tears started falling.

    Love and hugs.

    Dear Christy,

What a poignant poem; so full of meaning and comfort. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is truly beautiful! Of course, I am boo-hooing along with the rest as I read it.

    Hugs to you,

Thank you for posting this prayer Christy....I was going to highlight parts of it but would have ended up highlighting the whole prayer. So many parts are of special importance to me right now.
